Subject: [Repeater-builder] Delta-SX and Rangr Programming Please help me with a little reverse engineering on how the front loading or loading through the control head (like the S-825, which I don't have) of a GE Delta-SX or Rangr works. I know how channel data is loaded, 4 bits at a time, through FB-1 thru FB-4, to effect "channel loading" for scanning and priority search lock. However, the methods used for serial "frequency loading" is not readily at hand. I don't have access to a TQ-2310 or its LBI. All I know is that the following signal lines (perhaps there are others) are used at the front connector of the radio to serially load frequency data into the eeprom: Reset (pin 36) Advance Change Pulse/Serial Clock (pin 32) FB-5/Serial Data (pin 30) Serial Control (pin 10) Short of drawing a complete timing diagram of the signals, is there someone out there able to describe the clocking, etc., of the data flow. No, I am not trying to build an eeprom programmer....I am in the process of designing a remote base control system interface to a Link-Comm RLC-4 that will talk to the Delta-SX and make it go to any of the channels within a given amateur band. If I can simulate what the programming device does then I'm sure I'll be able to develop a versitile controller. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. 73, Jim WA6VPL |

Re: Membership Software
But lots of repeaters are supported by clubs, and clubs have members,
and members pay dues, and club officers have to track members and dues, so it follows that database programs are a logical necessity of repeater builders!?? :-) Anyway, we at the Catalina Radio Club just use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of it all. Members down the left side; dues paid date, address, call, interests, etc. across the top. All for now./Comments invited! Purchasing Manuals From "Others"
Barry L. Aubrey
I had the unfortunate opportunity to contact a ham that had the GE MEII
manuals (So he said). Contact was made here. I knew the price for copies was too good to be true, but I sent the $6.00 money order. Yep, you guessed it, that was over a month ago and no manual. Postal Inspector is working on it as of today, all the necessary paper work has been done. So, I learned a cheap $6.00 lesson. I just hate to be flim flammed and the guy gets away with it. As soon as I hear from Postal Inspector, then I shall name the culprit. The guy has failed to respond to e-mail and I have not had any returns from the mailer. Just FYI, Bear, KB6DJT |

First off, what manufacturer's product are you looking at specifically? I

have found that some manufacturers spec their products differently, and part of that has to do with design criteria. As an example, TX-RX (Angola, NY), my personal favorite, has a patented "vari-notch" technique that works, but is spec'ed a little differently. I'll try to respond to your question after I get your response! Todd, N2XL ----- Original Message -----

Kenwood Chip Required
Kevin Mitchell <[email protected]
Hi All,
I am looking for a place to purchase the 8251 uart chip to install into the repeaters Kenwood TS-440 radio. This will allow HF control from the repeater. I have not been able to find one here in NZ, it appears that they do not exisit anymore. Regards Kevin. ZL1UDD. |
Re: Digest Number 83
From: "Todd Ellis" <ellistr@...>Kevin: Just a quick comment is their another equivalent replacement chip that can be used ?, also another place to look for these chips is on old motherboards or computer boards. 73 Mark KC7ETX Tacoma, Wa. |
