Re: Quantar TFD6512A Preselector Filter

That's basically what I do, but using an off-site weak signal.? After all the goal is to be able to hear the weakest of signals.? In doing it that way I've not experienced any shift in the duplexer notches.

That is very old stuff. ?Used to see it in the late 80’s at sites I was decommissioning for an IMTS telephone company. ?I believe you will find the corrugation on the outer tube is a continuous spiral?

Prodelin, Cablewave, and Phelps-Dodge all made 7/8” with a solid center (copper-clad aluminum, akin to ?”). ??Pics and details to follow…

I interpreted your description a tad incorrect lol. Since Andrew never had a solid center in 7/8. I previously had a fella say he had 7/8 with a solder center but he didn’t know.

I have a length of the older SOLID CENTER CONDUCTOR 7/8” hardline and need one connector. I am not particular about the gender but an “N” female would be most useful. If one is available please contact me off list with your price including shipping to 34221. I would like to have this mid week next week if possible. If you do not HAVE a connector but know what MODEL NUMBER this type is, it might also be helpful. The cable is NOT the very old SPIRAL type but is the concentric circle type solid center. Thanks in advance.

  • I THINK It was sold under Prodelin but Celwave was also a seller....the connector is Hex shaped on the outside....the one I have is male N but a barrel is pretty tight on it making it a female N connection...

?

All of the 7/8” Prodelin I’ve seen from that era had an aluminum shield.? Not made by, or the same as, Cablewave.? Cablewave first made FLC78 using a solid center and then later changed to a hollow center but kept the same part number.? I probably have connectors, will look later.

Re: Quantar TFD6512A Preselector Filter-Additional

Use 6 dB pads on the TG output and SA inputs for the most accurate filter? alignment. The possible detuned duplexer notches will be on the RX cans that are tuned to reject the TX frequency.?

Hi Jeff,
?
Once you get the flat top response curve with minimum loss, you ideally should check at your operating frequency, with a return loss bridge connected to the filter input with the receive end of the filter connected to a 50 ohm load, (to keep from detuning the duplexer notch,) then again with the receiver or RX pre-amp connected. Keep the level of the tracking generator to below -10 or -20 dBM so as not to overload the RX or pre-amp.?
?
If you do not have a RLB, you could use an antenna bridge on your RX frequency, with the 50 ohm load, but not the RX input, as the antenna bridge output is most likely at too high a level for anything solid state to handle without detuning..

7/8 inch with solid center conductor is likely Celwave cable, not Andrew....I never have seen Andrew with solid center.....I guess its possible but the Celwave stuff Ive?used is solid and looks like Andrew on the outside...I have one connector here at the house if? you are interested...

Re: Win10 CDM/HT Out of Band and Region Code Mods

This is just a thought. I had old sp50’s and if you don’t know they don’t like to move very well.?
I did the hex edit in those to cover 0.00 to 999
mainly to use on 2 meters but say I got a uhf one, I didn’t have to hex edit again.?
why not just hex edit to cover everything and if you get another radio it’s already done.?
worked for me.?

Re: 19 inch rack mount cabinet for sale.

It’s a shame I got a small 4 foot ge cabinet but in South Carolina?

Re: Quantar TFD6512A Preselector Filter

The helical casting does have the holes to insert the white probe cable that the MSF5000 uses and the instruction manual does come with that cable if you ordered it.

It's more or less the same procedure as the MSF, just a smaller filter.
