Grounding with a tower glued to the top

I am seeking advice where the RF feedline grounding/lightning arrestor block should be mounted to.

I'm working on a project where the ham station is in the mezzanine of a warehouse where the tower was installed on TOP of the roof, with a seriously over-engineered mount in the middle of the building metal structure.

The entire building has a ground rod ring around it that are connected to a 6" copper strap that? does not NOT contact to the building.

Near the coax entry point there is a building structural I-beam.
The copper ground strap comes up along the outside side of the building, galvanically isolated, through a plastic tube and junction box, into the shack.

So, for best lightning/EMP protection:
1. should the ground strap be sandwiched between the building i-beam and the ground block, or, 2. should the ground block be connected to the copper strap secured by some kind of isolating material from the metal building?

If typing words is not your forte'; email direct for my cell number.

Re: Decibel DB4060 Series Duplexers

I haven’t seen the loop but the can uses a T connector and capacitor so if it’s like the Sinclair style Q loop, it’s the same and just needs to be tuned - there is a notch on both sides of the pass frequency.?

Re: 220 MHz amplifier

I use two 50 watt Garmin AT/UPS AT 220 MHz ACSSB amps which are combined in a home brew Wilkinson Combiner.
?
These were purchased in 2013 for ~ 50 dollars total at a local swap meet, the amps are used in my 220 MHz to 10 meter FM remote base.

You often have to tell it specificly to use that card as it sees the usb device as another sound card.?

Hi,

?

I hope someone can help me figure out an issue. I am trying to use a West Mountain Radio Rigblaster plug and play sound card interface to run echolink.

?

The issue I am running into is that I use JAWS a screenreader that reads text outloud from the computer since I am totally blind. When I have my nomic working JAWS talks fine and everything is happy but when I connect the plug and play, I get the usual computer sounds out of my speaker, but JAWS doesn’t talk, (so I can’t do anything if it doesn’t read to me what is on eht screen).

?

Does anyone have any ideas or how to make an external sound card play nice together with the internal one.

?

I would be happy to use the internal card for JAWS, and use the USB card to run the plug and play, but I run into the same issue with the USB sound card.

?

Thanks,

?

Chad

Dan,
I have a few of these types of amps. What switching transistor gets removed?
also wanting to know more about your charts for this amp.

Decibel DB4060 Series Duplexers

What would be required to change a DB4060 series can that is currently set up for pass low / block high to pass high / block low?? If loop replacement is required, where can they be procured?

Thanks!

Re: In search of dB4060 -005 coupling loops or assemblies

Wouldn't even risk that guy. I sent him a set of cans 4 years ago and he straight up disappeared after he told me to ship them to him. Tried every form of contact known to man and never got a response. I'd still like my cans back. Thief.

Tait TB8100 CWID Configuration

I've got a TB8100 in GMRS service.? I want to of course provide proper ID, but as I share the channel with another system, I do not want the ID to beacon, just politely properly ID routinely after use of the system.

In the CWID System tab, pretty sure I do not want Automatic CWID checked - but ID after some period of local system use would be done via a Task Manager configuration?

Examples, screen shots welcome.

Re: Duplexer for amateur 70-cm band

I agree.? They are false economy.? The only protection that they give the receiver from transmitter power is a very sharp notch.? Burn up the teflon, loose the notch tuning, and you have the chance of the up to 50 watts getting back into your receiver.

Re: VHF Duplexer Identification

Regarding the height:? The cans are 8 inches in diameter, and they are 21" tall.? The stated height does not include the tuning rods and other projections.
?
Regarding the range: I do not know what frequency range (A, B or C) these were designed for.? They are currently tuned to TX=147.360 and RX=147.960 with the performance stated in my initial post.
?
If I wanted to add a can to each channel, will I need to find one pass low / block high and one pass high / block low can?? That is the case with my TXRX duplexers unless I want to change a loop.? I found a few pass low block high cans that seem to be the same as these, but none that are advertised as pass high / block low.
?
Thanks!
Jeff

Re: Cellwave 526-4-2 harness specs

Butchered and jackass….. ?NO.?

it looks like they had made a 6 cavity preselector using the 6 pass/reject cans in series with notches on both sides of the pass frequency. ?This is one way of making a narrow passband with low loss and large attenuations close in. ?

If these loops were rotatable Q loops like used in the Sinclair Q duplexers, you can do wonders in shape and customization of the pass and reject curves.?
