Thanks to Tom for the head's up. We picked up some Jupiter-Io emissions today, right on the border between Io-A and non-Io-A. I think it would have been a nice display if viewed through the nighttime ionosphere. See attached. The first shows the full "storm", the others show the details. Richard

Observations from Grafton, WV. One weak solar and one of lightning. The lightning was just to the north of me and I was only seeing about 1/4 of what is shown in the spectrogram. So does that mean 3/4 stayed in the clouds? I took a similar spectrogram up to the weather students at West Virginia University and asked them. They were baffled and amazed that I could do something like that. Any one here know a lightning expert I could get in touch with?? Thanks, ~Duane

Good evening...a bit more activity today. All occurring during the period when NOAA prediction for the day suggested the time of most activity. Wish my local terrestrial WX was as accurate! :-) .....bill....

Good evening. A possible, very weak event at about 1629:30 UTC. The other image is something I see regularly; this one lasted about 30 minutes with a very abrupt end (2205 to 2235 UTC). Does anyone have an idea what causes it? ...thanks....bill....

Io-B N events April 23, 2025 from the Dark Sky Observatory
Thanks to Thomas Ashcraft for the head's up about this event. I have posted 4 spectrograms. The first shows the full extent of the "storm" from about 21:40 to 22:10. Look first at frequencies between 22 and 24MHz, then look for a long string of bursts starting at about 25MHz and ending at about 23MHz. the next three spectrograms show these bursts in more detail.
