Date change for the USATF 50K:?

Dear Friends!
?Happy New Year!!! I hope this note finds you all happy, healthy, fit , and Safe; ?having had a great holiday … and about to have a great 2021!
?I am writing to you to let you know that at the request of USA Track & Field’s National Race Walk Executive Committee last night, we have received permission today from both the City of Santee and San Diego County to move the 2021 USATF National Men’s 50km & Women’s 35km Race Walk Championships back 1 month to?Sunday, February 28, 2021. The request was made by the Executive Committee in an effort to best insure the physical safety and emotional comfort of all of the event participants – athletes, judges, support personnel, officials, and event staff … and all of us here in Santee are delighted to be able to make it happen! ?????
?That said … for those of you who this move inconveniences, I sincerely apologize; but the move has been made with the absolute best of intentions and with the best interests of every participant in mind.
?Other than the date change, everything else about the event will remain the same, and I will send an updated Fact Sheet to everyone as early as tomorrow after I have moved our Event Hotel blocks.
?Today, I also reconfirmed the Championships’ status with San Diego County as a “professional sports event” and the fact that no quarantine in California will be required of any participant in the Championships regardless of where they are coming from. That includes all judges, officials, and support personnel / coaches in addition to the participating athletes; and it makes no difference if they are coming from another U.S. state or a foreign country. ?
?While I have sent this email to everyone I had email addresses for, I am sure I have left out far too many, so please, forward it to anyone you think might be interested or that I have missed. And when reaching out to your international friends, please, let them know that their performances here will count towards their World Athletics World Rankings, and that while I don’t have prize money for them yet, I am still working on it.
?Again, an updated Fact Sheet should be sent to you within the next day or two, but in the meantime, on behalf of everyone involved in Santee from Mayor John Minto and City Manager Marlene Best on down, and at USA Track & Field, we all so very much hope you will join us now?on February 28?here in Santee. Please, call or email me with any questions you might have. In the meantime, great luck with your training, and again, may you all have a great 2021!
