RABB - Raymond Edward
Age 72, entered into eternal peace on April 25, 2021, after complications from a severe injury. He will be remembered as a man of faith, complete devotion to family and friends, dedication to work, and love of nature, trains, sports, and cars. Ray was born on December 4, 1948, in Buffalo, NY, and raised on the East side. He remained a lifelong resident of the city, where he developed his passion for trains and graduated from Hutchinson Central Technical High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Inchon. Ray was a Vietnam Veteran and served until honorably discharged in 1974. During his first trip home from the service, he met a girl through friends at Christmas. He and Joan Savage were married at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church on May 28, 1971. Their 50 years of marriage culminated in four children and seven grandsons. After leaving the Navy, Ray returned to Buffalo for a career in communications engineering and using his innate discipline and hard work, co-founded Transwave Communications Systems. As President, he was a proud owner in serving his clients, and diligently supportive of his dedicated employees. Throughout his life, family was first. Always. He was extremely proud of his children and beamed when his grandsons entered his presence. There was nothing that could bring Ray more joy than being Pepa/Papa to those boys. He effortlessly extended that caring beyond immediate family to his nieces, nephews, and friends, acting as a father-figure to many. Quick to connect, with an infectious smile, he was someone you felt comfortable around immediately, welcoming all who came across his path. It seems there was always someone sharing a personal story about an interaction with him. Two of Ray's other loves came together often during his workday, spending time outdoors and dogs. He had a natural ability to find stray animals who needed homes and making them family. Not far behind those, was his love of cars (fast cars), and taking time to see his Bills, Mets and Sabres. Surviving are his wife Joan; his four children, Jennifer (Michael), Andrew (Amy), Daniel (Katherine), and Robert (Tiffany); his seven grandsons, Nicholas, Braden, Abraham, Asher, Thomas, Edward, and Patrick; his brother Gregory Rabb; and beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Jessie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, 199 Clark St., Buffalo, on Saturday, May 8th, at 10 AM. Donations can be made to the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit at South Buffalo Mercy Hospital. Ray, a loving husband, father and grandfather, is with God now. He will be missed beyond measure, cheering on his family, friends, and sports teams from above.
