Dear Group Members,
I have the requirement to mute the R30A whilst I transmit on on my OrionII transceiver. ?I will try not to over complicate things. ?Though in preparation to using a MFJ-1026 Noise Canceller which also has a muting input. ?I also wish to mute my R30A receiver.
I have connected the Orion II amplifier keying output to the R30A and it does mute the Palstar R30A. ?Except that the signal metre on the R30A pegs all the way to the right, off scale.
I have also connected a RCA male to RCA male shielded lead to the muting input on the R30A and when I short the inner conductor to the shield, the R30A mutes. ?Yet again the signal meter still pegs fully CW to the right and off scale. ?I was expecting the signal meter to register a S1 or lower reading when the receiver is muted.
Could somebody please tell me if I am going about this incorrectly or what I am experiencing is normal.
