ADC-40 status report and Challenge Accepted

 

Gang,

I uploaded two new videos to @aa7fo on the ADC-40 project.? For the 6 of you following.
Will be on hold for three days to allow you to catch up.

I have to put up an antenna this afternoon and get on 17m to start and complete WAS
by the end of the year.? Look for me, please.? Love to do it all qrptech guys and gals.
I'm still made at HRO for charging me $20 freight charge on two hamsticks that I bought
in store.? Not a good business model in my opinion.? Waiting on K7DD to get back to me.

Challenge:? I have accepted the DC receiver challenge build from SolderSmoke that is
being run by Mike, Pete and Dean.? This will take me three days or so and it's hunker
down time.? I'd love to see some of you do it also and show some group pride.

Heat up the irons and let's get to work.

I thought you didn't like PTO's :)
I was going to take up the challenge also but got distracted on my 2N2/40 build.
I am one of the elite "6" who are watching your ADC-40 project!

I built the Soldersmoke Challenge DCR about 6 weeks ago and sent my non-video results to Bill and Dean. (Pete is not part of this project.) I didn't have the 3D-printed variable inductor form so used a fixed-freq VFO.

I just called you several times on? 18.080, my favorite 17-meter frequency.? I often hang out there.

Hi Steve,
I was looking for "ADC-40" on YouTube; my bad.? I've found it and will watch tonight.? I'm interested in the RX also.? I would like to build a good 40M direct conversion RX that's good enough to use on the air with QRP TX's.

I've been building the soldersmoke DCR at a leisurely pace over the couple of weeks. Started on the last section, the audio amp, today; built and tested the third stage.? WIll add the second stage tomorrow, I imagine. I didn't have the tunable inductor form when I finished the PTO, so I hung a toroid there to see if the oscillator oscillated. It did...

I am using the square mepads on this build, which feels a little like cheating, as I have a tin full of round pads that I punched out a couple of years ago.
