Possibly for the lower bands.
?
But some people feel a common VFO? running at 2 to 3 MHz and heterodyned up for the mixer is a better solution
?
I'm working on designing an Elecraft clone. I can't go backpacking anymore so I would like decent transceiver that does all HF bands.Bob Macklin

The one thing that could be added to the W8TEE VFO is a crystal mixer similar to what is used in the NorCal Sierra and early Elecraft units.

Bob,
All you should need is a reprogramming.? No?

Re: 2n2xx Transceiver

Would be interested in 2 boards.? I tried building one of these manhattan style and failed.? As I recall it uses ring diode mixers.

Re: 2n2xx Transceiver

Sounds like a great project.? I would be interested in a couple of boards as well.? Thanks.

VK2HHS here, and tied up with a Sierra redux build for the moment.

I bought 49er and a W8TEE DDS VFO a couple years ago.
?
I found the W8TEE DDS VFO is what you need to convert many earlier QRP designs to digital tuning. I am currently setting up a NC40 with?a DDS VFO and I plan to do the same with a NorCal Sierra. If I get a NorCal 2N2XX I'll do the same with it.

I'm thinking of building a multiband NC40 that way.

When I built my qrp-tech Norcal 40a I omitted the analog VFO circuitry and used the W8TEE et al DDS VFO (AD9850-based) from the Modular 49er project.

It works well. I am running code by K4KRW that was written for this VFO. I modified it for use with a superhet rig and made a couple of customizations.
It provides RIT, and a nice little iambic A/B keyer as well.?

FWIW, it took about 10 lines of code changes to get this same VFO code to run with an Si5351a in place of a AD9850.?

Cheers

Figured I could get by without an introduction for a long time, but I feel a strong urge to request a 2n2xx board…

The W8TEE DDS VFO can be built on a piece of Vector prototyping board. I would get a 4X6 protoboard with a ground plane and cut it in half
?
The Ardunio NANO acts like a 40 pin IC and the 9850 module acts like a 20 pin IC.
?
The original W8TEE PCB was designed to fit with a 49er .
