Welcome
Welcome to qrpdfw.groups.io, the common voice of QRPers in the Dallas Fort Worth Area. If you are reading this message, that means you had enough interest in the group to join the page. We hope you will participate in the success of this group. We created the QRP DFW group to promote QRP operation, especially QRP portable operation, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The primary need we were trying to address was notifying the QRP community about our planned operation from various parks in or out of the area. That need grew into a plan to share all kinds of information about radios, antennas, kit building and homebrewing, troubleshooting problems, contests and QSO parties, and informal QRP get togethers. Our first action was to create this groups.io page and we will follow that up by reaching out to QRP operators in the area asking them to participate. We are in no way trying to pull folks away from existing clubs, QRP or not. This group has no formal organization, no officers, no dues, no regular meetings, or any other trappings of an amateur radio club. We do hope we will have lots of ad hoc events and meetings that are called by the “members” of this group. We have a web page at https://qrpdfw.com currently under construction. For now, the QRPDFW.groups.io page is basically freeform with very little moderation while we sort things out. As people join the group and begin posting, we will conform the page to the needs of the group. So, feel free to post away with anything you would like to share or ask about. For this to work at all, we need to let folks know it’s here, so reach out to your QRP friends and ask them to participate. We are focused on DFW, but there are no restrictions on who may join the group from outside the area. As you may notice, we haven’t defined how much of the map the “DFW Area” covers. A primary focus of this page is for members to be able to notify others about their planned portable operation and invite them to join in. One of our favorite things to do is gather in a park as a group and set up antennas and radios and share information with each other. We can see and operate with various commercial and homebuilt equipment and antennas, and share our knowledge and experiences with each other. Joining the groups.io reflector will allow you to communicate with others in the group even at the last minute. We’re hoping for lots of activities in parks across the Metroplex. We also hope activities include folks meeting at a restaurant for breakfast or lunch with a group of like-minded hams, or even planning group trips to a hamfest or to a POTA activation. The key to our success is that everyone participates and posts messages to the group. We hope that you choose to continue with us and that you post regularly. Most of us are familiar with groups.io groups but I’ll summarize a couple of things here. For the up to the minute notifications to work, everyone must be subscribed to individual messages—all individual message subscribers will receive posts from others immediately via email. To post to the page, send an email to [email protected] and all subscribers will receive a message containing the post. When you reply to a message other members will see your reply. We recommend that you read the user manual located in the help tab at the bottom of the groups.io home page for more information.

I got something new!
Please post when you get or build something new that would be interesting to our group, especially things that are for QRP or portable operation. Anything goes here: radios, antennas, CW devices, test equipment, go boxes, accessories, old or new. And post photos if possible.

Anyone in the Granbury area experienced with qrp? I'm stumbling through figuring things out without much success.

New Rig
Used an xeigu x6100 for FOBB in Mansfield on Sunday in CW mode. While it’s adequate rig for the price, it doesn’t compare with Elecraft’s portable rigs very well, it has several shortfalls in comparison. But none-the-less for half the price of the Elecraft rigs it performed well enough to make good contacts in FOBB. Cu in Skeeter Hunt later in the month 72, Dave Lear NN5DE
