FDIM ePaper PoC code posted 6
During the club night I demonstrated a proof of concept of how we might use an ePaper screen (with buttons) in a project. The idea being to plant the seed on what could potentially be done. The code for that is now up on GitHub https://github.com/k0emt/ePaperPoC 72 de Bryan, k0emt

ARS Spartan Sprint Tonight!
The monthly running of the ARS Spartan Spring starts this evening at 0000Z. A fun 2 hours of QRP'ing. Overview & Rule Summary FOR THE ADVENTURE RADIO SOCIETY SPARTAN SPRINT What is an ARS Spartan Sprint and how can I participate? The Adventure Radio Society Spartan Sprint is a two hour casual QRP contest. It is held on the first Monday of every month to encourage QRP operators to get on and go to somewhere near the standard QRP frequencies on the 80-40-20-15-10 Meter bands for an evening of fun. It is open to all QRP CW operators ¨C there is not any membership requirement. Operating portable and/or using lightweight minimalist (spartan) equipment is encouraged, but is not required. THE CONTEST PERIOD FOR EACH TIME ZONE IS: EASTERN 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Local. CENTRAL 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Local MOUNTAIN 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Local PACIFIC 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Local Does not shift for DST ¨C This event is always at these Local Times (UTC for STANDARD TIME : 0100Z to 0300Z) (UTC for DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME : 0000Z to 0200Z) POWER OUTPUT To keep with its minimalist theme, Maximum Spartan Sprint power output is 5 watts. However, a Spartan Sprint participant running 5 watts who is submitting results is allowed to work a non-QRP station. That contact will count. (A Non-QRP station is not permitted to submit results for this QRP event.) OPERATION We operate CW on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, around standard QRP frequencies. Call CQ SP Or listen for calling stations. EXCHANGE - Your Call Sign - Your State or Province - Your Power output SCORING Scoring is somewhat unique - score is calculated based on [Number of Contacts] / [Station Weight]. Working the same station on a different band counts as another contact. The weight of your station consists of everything except your antenna and feed line. If your station includes your home-based rig, antenna tuner, DC power supply, heavy paddle or bug - obviously you are not lightweight - simply report your weight as 30 lbs. (That is the default weight for the Tubby division.) REPORTING To report your results, go to 3830scores.com, and select the ¡®ARS Spartan Sprint¡¯ (on the Left side). You will enter your [Station Weight] and the [Number of Contacts] that you made. Soapbox comments may include your power, equipment, antennas, band conditions, outdoor experiences, and anything else you wish to comment on. Scores will be Automatically Calculated Reports will be available for both the Skinny (lightweight) and Tubby (heavyweight) entrants. WORKING HIGHER-POWERED STATIONS: You may be contacted by a higher-powered station who is not familiar with the Spartan Sprint and its rules. As long as you are running QRP, you may count that QSO. Looking forward to working you during the next Spartan Sprint. 73, Jody ¨C K3JZD on behalf of Russ Carpenter - AA7QU and Richard Fisher - KI6SN The Adventure Radio Society Pioneers Last Updated : 03APR25 Mark Prather - WB9HFK Celebrating my 54th year as an Amateur Radio (Ham) Operator.

CW / Rag Chew Practice Session
On June 01 I had a CW practice session on 20 metes. I worked only one station. Conditions were terrible with weak signals, QSB and QRN. The band was very noisy and there was a G4 solar storm. SSN=96, SFI=150, A=126, K=7 My next CW practice session will be June 06 at 08:00 EDT / 12:00 UTC on 20 meters. Anyone and everyone is welcome. These practice sessions are intended for operators who are new to CW or they need some practice. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW POOR YOUR CW IS. Mistakes are OK. Poor fists are OK. Slow speed is OK. Really slow speed is OK. This practice is meant for you to improve your CW. I will do my best to adjust to your skill level. Operate at any power level. If several stations show up, I will operate as a round-table control station. I will do it as a round-table so everyone gets a chance to transmit. Please listen to my directions. Details: Date - June 06 Time - 08:00 EDT / 12:00 UTC Band - 20 Meters How to find me - I will find a clear frequency and call CQ. Go to the Reverse Beacon Network and search for my call sign AB8DF. That will tell you what frequency I am on. Tune your station to that frequency and if you hear me give me a call. If there is a QSO in progress, please wait for a break in the action. Then send your call sign. If I hear you, I will invite you to join the QSO and start a round-table QSO. Reply to this email if you have questions. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW POOR CW IS Ed AB8DF_._,_._,_

Michigan QRP Club Weekly Zoom Chat
We had eleven folks join the MI QRP Zoom Chat on 22 May. Please join us Thursday May 29 (and every Thursday) at 4PM Eastern for the Michigan QRP Club weekly QRP Chat where the main topics will be QRP and other ham interests. New hams are encouraged to participate and ask questions. It's fun, it's easy, and it's free. You only need a computer, a smart phone, or a tablet that can connect to the Internet. OR if you can't be close to any of those you can join by audio with any standard phone. Just follow the directions below. No software needs to be loaded or installed. Anyone can join and non members are welcome. Details are here: https://www.miqrp.net/zoom Zoom ID: 811 0835 6229 Pete WK8S Ed AB8DF Ernie NE3TE Tony W8CDC Stan WB8QJZ Casey KC9IH Larry AC8YE Dave N8SBE Harry K9DXA Randy KE8JWB Charlie NJ7V It was Randy¡¯s first time. Welcome. Ernie purchased one of the new palm paddles at Hamvention. He was able to convert it to a kootie key. It was Charlie¡¯s first time. Welcome Harry was at FDIM and did POTA on the way home. Both Ed and Ernie got a bunch of SMA connectors and cables because they got a WB2CBA Pocket Tuner at vendor night which uses SMA. Ed also got a ADX Pocket. The ADX is an Arduino based Digital Modes Transceiver. Stan wanted to know if we were able to get a look at the new Ten Tec rig. Yes there was one but we could not get a real close to it. It looked like a very rough prototype. We were also able to see the new Yaesu but just too many people to get close. There was a new Flex Aurora. Pete is going to do a Move-In special contest when this relocation is complete and has his shack up and operational. Standby for details. Dave has a AI6YM T41 kit https://ai6ym.radio/store/ We talked about the I and Q on a KX2 vs I and Q on a QRP Labs QMX QRP. Lab 599 has a new radio based on the Wolfe transceiver. The Elecraft K2 has an accessory that will do digital and one that will do a panadapter. Dave is working on doing a K4 remotely. The K40 is Elecraft¡¯s top priority. Ekecraft is also working on a better noise reduction. The topic for Thursday, 29 May will be Field Day. The agenda for the 29 May QRP Chat: Ernie to do a short introduction and acknowledge any new folks to the Zoom chat. The topic for next May 29 will be Field Day. During the open forum anyone can take the floor. We will go one by one until all have had a chance to have the floor. Files, pictures and presentations can be shared if you have any. Please try to stay muted when someone has the floor. Thanks Ed AB8DF

QRP Quarterly Mailing 33
The April 2025 issue of the QRP Quarterly was mailed out on April 14th, 2025. We send them out first class mail to the US and use a 3rd party mailing company for the DX issues. The US Postal system is responsible for delivery. 18 days to deliver first class mail seems to be more commonplace than ever. I don't know why. If your copy has not arrived by May 14th, let us know and we will see what we can do on the shipping end. 73 de KB9BVN Membership Manager -- 72 de KB9BVN

Toroid Grabber 7
Hi Everyone, One of the neat things that I found at FDIM this year was a set of tools by Rex Harper to help with the winding of toroids. I thought that maybe I was the last to know about these helpful devices, but I shared this little discovery today with my club (North Georgia QRP) and none of the members present had heard of these. So, I've made a little video to describe their operation. These are just so dog gone handy.... Here's a link to a Google Drive file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c8DfE3g_gJV8Z_IKS-YNTYHZFEFwo_q6/view?usp=drive_link I think I may be even more pleased at finding these than I am at buying a working HW-8 in the HamVention boneyard. Okay, maybe not.... 73, Brian -- Brian R. Page, N4TRB http://n4trb.com/ https://www.inventingtheairplane.com/ Threads: https://www.threads.net/@page_brian +1.678.427.1719

New Information site on T41 SDR and DSP with microprocessors.
Hi Everyone, I have created, with Jack's help, a new site all about the T41-EP at: https://t41sdrtransceiver.wordpress.com This is an 'information and background site" for the T41, not an open forum - the SCHR is the place for posting comments/suggestions about the T41.It also has general info on SDR radio design and DSP. I intend to post lots of photos of user-built T41 rigs. I have a few already included, but would like more. If I get enough, I will create a separate gallery page of just T41 builds. Photos should be sent to me directly at albertfpeter@... with a brief explanation. I reserve the right to edit any comments for brevity. Let me know what you think. Regards, Al Peter AC8GY
