While not as plentiful as salvage, the 7K coils are the same as the 10K electrically. Unlike the 10K, the 7mm sized coils fit on 0.1" perfboard easily. Even the shield grounding lugs. Loadstone

I have been "hacking" Toko 10mm and other RF/IF coils for some time. A bit finicky but not too difficult but like everything else, practice helps. here are a few online resources as food for thought
