Re: allpcb, pcbway, etc 100mm x 100mm

Jack,
I got bitten on this problem when AllPCB was having their $5 special in December.? I had gerbers for a DJ Delorie laminator temperature controller set:

and gerbers at:

DJ put both the power supply and main board in the gerber divided only with a blank line. AllPCB charged me $34 for that as they considered it to be a panelized board.? If I had split them or knew how to make 2 separate gerbers out of them I could have submitted each for $5 so the total would have been $10 rather than $34 even though the total size of the panel was less than 100x100 by quite a bit!? They did not separate the panels for me after etching and silk screening.? I still have to cut them apart.

Chuck,? I mentioned the above experience to someone after it happened.? I was told that he gets by the panelized pc board problem by putting a solid boarder around the entire 4 quadrants sort of like a ground bus or a power bus so it appeared to be one board rather than 4 boards in one panel.? The line does not have to be thick but has to be there,? otherwise they consider it to be a panel of 4 boards rather than one board.? That boarder does not and probably should not connect to anything.? I hope that helps.

Thank you.

The four seems superfluous.? Had to ask Alexa to
spell for me.? :-)

Is there a way to sneak this by the board manufacturers
so as not to get charged four times as much?

Re: Some KayPro 2s >>>> Osborne 1

My software company, Ecosoft, did a deal with Adam Osborne where he bought the rights to distribute my statistics package (Microstat) with his computers. I wonder if yours is one that has the software?

Please include me in your new 'Group.'
The only reason I went to college was to understand "...how computers
work...."
As a young lad in high school, ...computers just fascinated me and
captured my curiosity to learn.
In college, the first course was to take 4-bit, bit-slice, processors;
string them together and write microcode and a small assembler. ?
After a heavy dose of hardware training; then through karnaugh maps and
state reduction... I was forever hooked.

Bob,

What an incredible piece of history! When I left the Big Blue world (after my stint in the USAF and 6 years of programming COBOL), I stumbled into the Unix world and was abducted by several of my co-workers to purchase a KayPro wherein I learned the magic of CP/M. Using a "borrowed" C compiler (NOT BDS C), I crafted my own little empire in that box and never looked back. My stock in trade, up until my retirement last October, was C/C++ and I had no truck with those who trafficked in the "development environments du jour" named after restaurants proximate to train lines or that syrupy hot beverage so many delight in drinking.

Now, with so much water under the bridge, the kids think ancient history is the rise of Apple since their first smart phone and few realize that there is a Sumerian pre-history *before* this that dominated personal computing. Also, I never put much stock in a guy who based his success on writing a Basic interpreter (Bill Gates). My Idol, Gary Kildall, remains so..as does my conviction that he could whoop Gates' fanny in a bar fight.

I vote for the creation of a Groups.io assemblage of the old 8-bit machines as well.

here is the link to the dual lever product:
At the top of the page is a menu that allows you to navigate the store and view all the products they offer. No connection to the site, just a happy customer.

Same here, Dave. I used my last pair on a Ten-Tec case that housed my SS-40 receiver (K8IQY design). Later I sold it. The buyer was delighted with the flip-up feet.
