2025 Flight of the Bumblebees
Randy got it started - here is the rest of the story : 2025 Flight of the Bumblebees The annual Flight of the Bumblebees will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The event will be in a four hour daytime window, from 1700 to 2100 UTC. This casual QRP CW event consists of 'Bumblebees' who are operating portable stations at outdoor locations, and 'Home Stations' who try to work as many of these 'Bumblebees' as possible. This event is open to all operators. Anywhere. With the sunspot cycle still on the high side, this year's event has the potential to be very interesting. Operators who want to go out and setup a portable station at some outdoor location, and be a highly sought after 'Bumblebee', need to obtain a "Bumblebee Number". The window for obtaining your 2025 'Bumblebee Number' is now Open. This year is is simpler than ever to get a Bumblebee Number. The https://ars-qrp.com web site will explain the whole process. I'll be out there as a 'Bumblebee' - hoping to work you during the event. 72, Jody - K3JZD

ARS Spartan Sprint Tonight!
The monthly running of the ARS Spartan Spring starts this evening at 0000Z. A fun 2 hours of QRP'ing. Overview & Rule Summary FOR THE ADVENTURE RADIO SOCIETY SPARTAN SPRINT What is an ARS Spartan Sprint and how can I participate? The Adventure Radio Society Spartan Sprint is a two hour casual QRP contest. It is held on the first Monday of every month to encourage QRP operators to get on and go to somewhere near the standard QRP frequencies on the 80-40-20-15-10 Meter bands for an evening of fun. It is open to all QRP CW operators ¨C there is not any membership requirement. Operating portable and/or using lightweight minimalist (spartan) equipment is encouraged, but is not required. THE CONTEST PERIOD FOR EACH TIME ZONE IS: EASTERN 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Local. CENTRAL 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Local MOUNTAIN 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Local PACIFIC 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Local Does not shift for DST ¨C This event is always at these Local Times (UTC for STANDARD TIME : 0100Z to 0300Z) (UTC for DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME : 0000Z to 0200Z) POWER OUTPUT To keep with its minimalist theme, Maximum Spartan Sprint power output is 5 watts. However, a Spartan Sprint participant running 5 watts who is submitting results is allowed to work a non-QRP station. That contact will count. (A Non-QRP station is not permitted to submit results for this QRP event.) OPERATION We operate CW on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters, around standard QRP frequencies. Call CQ SP Or listen for calling stations. EXCHANGE - Your Call Sign - Your State or Province - Your Power output SCORING Scoring is somewhat unique - score is calculated based on [Number of Contacts] / [Station Weight]. Working the same station on a different band counts as another contact. The weight of your station consists of everything except your antenna and feed line. If your station includes your home-based rig, antenna tuner, DC power supply, heavy paddle or bug - obviously you are not lightweight - simply report your weight as 30 lbs. (That is the default weight for the Tubby division.) REPORTING To report your results, go to 3830scores.com, and select the ¡®ARS Spartan Sprint¡¯ (on the Left side). You will enter your [Station Weight] and the [Number of Contacts] that you made. Soapbox comments may include your power, equipment, antennas, band conditions, outdoor experiences, and anything else you wish to comment on. Scores will be Automatically Calculated Reports will be available for both the Skinny (lightweight) and Tubby (heavyweight) entrants. WORKING HIGHER-POWERED STATIONS: You may be contacted by a higher-powered station who is not familiar with the Spartan Sprint and its rules. As long as you are running QRP, you may count that QSO. Looking forward to working you during the next Spartan Sprint. 73, Jody ¨C K3JZD on behalf of Russ Carpenter - AA7QU and Richard Fisher - KI6SN The Adventure Radio Society Pioneers Last Updated : 03APR25 Mark Prather - WB9HFK Celebrating my 54th year as an Amateur Radio (Ham) Operator.

Please , we need you!
We're 3 weeks away from the opening of Fox season. And we still need several intrepid volunteers to step forward. Check out the current line up at https://www.qrpfoxhunt.org/fap20.html. That's also where you can find the application. If you have played our wonderful game, and especially if you've not been a Fox before, please consider doing it now. Some of the benefits of being a Fox: - it's much easier than you think it is. Sure, the first time you do it there's the normal fear of the Unknown. But that fades away quickly. - your Code Speed will increase. Something to do with the mental sharpness you gain, and the experience of hearing multiple hounds calling you. - your SWR will fall. OK, this one is unfounded. But isn't it amazing how guys thousands of miles away can suddenly hear you when they really want to? - there is zero risk. God forbid you have a bad night (it does happen once in a while; check _my_ results), you just shut her down and go to bed. The Sheriff will not visit you, the bank will not repo your car. You say "Conditions..." and move on to the next thing. The summer season is the perfect time to try Foxing for the first time. It's a short season, only 2 slots in 10 weeks. Give it a whirl! If you need assistance filling out the application, drop me a line at my QRZ address. I'll be happy to help. https://youtu.be/SBjWHBHlvAs?si=uiwg23Mu4UAR4GTa Randy NC4RT -- a^2 + b^2 = c^2 x^2 + y^2 = r^2 e^iPi + 0^2 = i^2

Mr Scorekeeper, did you receive my email? Foxhunt swap needed 7/11 6
I'm not sure that Dale received an email from me, asking for my 7/11 assignment to be changed. Perhaps there's an issue on my end. Watch this space: I may be asking for a volunteer to swap with me. 72 de NC4RT -- a^2 + b^2 = c^2 x^2 + y^2 = r^2 e^iPi + 0^2 = i^2

Fox applications for this summer are online!
The webpage for applying to be a 20 meter Fox this summer is up and running! It appears the Scorekeeper wants us to send him a screenshot of the application, rather than using the FormFill route. Please please please, if you have been tempted to be a Fox in the past, take a stab! It's fun! We need you! It pays $100 an hour! Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bnad. I'm attaching the screenshot I Dale, as a visual reminder we're not supposed to use the webpage itself. (I tried clicking the "Submit" button, and nothing happened... so that's what I assume is going on... I'm not an official Foxhunt committee person, so I am not 100% sure about this, but it makes sense given the issues we've seen in previous seasons.
