Preliminary Log 80m hunt 250221 NC4RT

 

I stayed on 3561.5 all night.??
?
A couple of you could use a refresher on "split" vs "simplex."? It was only by luck that I stumbled across you, 1 kHz or more above me when I had stopped saying "UP".
?
But a fairly clean night.
?
Big congrats to Lew K7GO for sticking with me.? ?It took me forever to dig his callsign out, and then more repeats on everything else.? ?Well done Lew!
?
The magic of ions held forth again...? the first 40 minutes were fairly strong, then 5 minutes of fading signals, then 45 minutes of crickets.

Our contact at?2:40z was all correct except for the name spelling. The name is pronounced the same way but spelled a bit different.? It is spelled? "Dwain".? I always tell people to think "Mark Twain" - take off the "T" and put on a "D".??

As I recall, we went back and forth quite a few times on your name, and I mistakenly thought I had it.
?
Each fox has his/her own methods for hearing...? some use N1MM to keep a running Fox log, and so when they type in your callsign, your name and QTH automatically populate the relevant fields.? ?I keep a separate log for each hunt, so I don't see that info.? I also insist on hearing each piece of the exchange, even if it's someone I've worked many times before and know the elements by heart.
?
We have a Glen and a Glenn.? ?We have Deans and Dans and Dens and Dons.? We have a Peter and a Pete. We have a Mac who used to be Vaden, and a Mac who used to be Reggie. We have Randys and Andys (I came --> <-- this close to calling Andy Randy last night).? So I know to listen and to get it right.. My most fervent apologies for messing yours up.
