Preliminary Log 80 meter 032825 K4PQC Hunt 37

Well this one was interesting.? ?Lots of hounds calling... trying to get through my noise?floor which was somewhere between S-5 and S-6.? ?If you saw my announcement?and looked at the link you would see what I am faced with.? My hearing isn't what it used to be and even before it started going south, I had a hard time hearing below the noise floor..? My S-meter was all over the scale and if I heard you that was enough...??

I'm sure that I'll have a few corrections...? Thanks for your patience.? I was happy to distribute as many pelts this evening as I did and sorry for those who didn't receive one from me.? 72 - Phil K4PQC

Thanks for hanging in there, Phil, to complete our exchange at 0220. I was literally Tony's first contact for the hunt, and your last contact. It doesn't always happen that way, and did mean I was calling you for the entire hunt and always seemingly being beaten out by apparently louder stations to you. You are admittedly out near the extreme of what my undersized antenna for 80 meters can do, which was further hampered by your high-noise problem.

I have dealt with high noise levels before from power lines and such, and know how "not fun" that is with high noise floors. For me, at least twice it was faulty connections on nearby city street lights in the neighborhood. But the worst time ended up being in the house itself, when the power adapter for my cable modem went haywire, creating horrible wide-band noise that my antenna was picking up from 25 feet away and swamping everything. I had to find that one on an evening when no one else was home where I could put my radio on battery and turn off all the circuit breakers in the house, bringing them back on one at a time to narrow down the noise source. Fortunately, once identified, I had an identical power adapter from the same brand of equipment that I could substitute to fix the problem.

Thank you Phil,
?
123 and 213? Should be TN. Very high noise floor here also.
Thank you for being a Fox!

Thank you Den for the QSOs.

I thought you sent the same information both times...? I wasn't sure if you were running a different power level and this is why you called me again.? I sent "B4?" and didn't?hear a reply so I put you down twice.? I will erase the 0213 if I don't hear back?from you...?

Thanks for sticking with me... an interesting challenge.

Phil, I was right after Den and I did not see my dot appear in the map. I waited a while and I called again and got the B4 so I gave you the dit dit. Still didn¡¯t get a dot. I was just making sure.?

Good job last night considering the conditions.?

If I recall correctly, Fritz will not display a dot for a submitted QSO if at least the operator's name does not match what he has in his database, as well as possibly the state. And of course not if the call sign itself is a bust.

Kevin Anderson, K9IUA

Thank you again Phil,

Yes, please remove 213.?
