UPDATE: April/May Print Exchanges
Hi folks.? I've now received most of the prints (including those from Josh which arrived today).? Two participants were unable to get the prints to me early, but they should be here when I return in mid-June.
Thanks to everyone who got your prints to me by the 23rd, but without a complete set, I will need to wait and mail the prints back to you when I return. I will post the signup for the June/July print exchanges on or about June 1st. Gary |
Re: Reminder: APR/MAY print exchanges
开云体育Greetings Gary: I hope things are going well with you.? So that you know what to expect from me, I’m going to just miss the 23rd, again with best efforts here. ? It is possible I may have to sit out this round if you’re still shipping, as you had desired, by 5/25.? I can send mine anyway so that if you do not get prints from rest of group and ship in June, you’ll have them to include. If you prefer, I can ship them later in May or even into June so they’re not sitting waiting. Appreciatively,? —闯辞蝉丑 On May 5, 2024, at 1:36?PM, Gary via groups.io <bensonga@...> wrote:

Reminder: APR/MAY print exchanges
Hi folks,
Just a reminder that I would need to receive prints from all participants by May 23rd (18 days from today) in order to sort, repackage and mail them back to the group before I leave Alaska on May 25th.? If I don't have all the prints by the 23rd, I will mail them back to the group when I return to Alaska in mid-June. I finished making 6 sets of my own prints and the 2 sets I printed for Jeff Deam for the April/May B&W and Color exchanges.? I haven't received April/May prints from any other participants yet. FINAL APRIL/MAY 2024 B&W and Color Exchange Lists - PLEASE READ
The final count for the regular size B&W exchange is 10 and the Color exchange is 11.
The following photographers are signed up for the Color print exchange:
Please ship your prints for repackaging to: Gary Benson ? TO SUCCESSFULLY PARTICIPATE PLEASE READ ALL OF THE GUIDELINES BELOW =================================================================== 1) Prints are to be on either Letter (8.5x11) or A4 (8.3"x11.7") size paper. Please sign the print (generally done on the front).? 2) On the 16th of the month you will be notified of how many participants there are for each exchange.? You are to print one print for each of the other participants and one for yourself.? 3) Prints should be enclosed in individual clear sleeves (for example Clear Bags B811SNF) along with a Tech Sheet. Include the date of the exchange, your name, print title and any information about the subject matter, printer, inkset, software, workflow etc on the Tech Sheet which may be of interest to other participants.? Optional: also include your own?critique?of your image.? 4) Make sure that whatever return box or mailing method you use can accommodate both Letter (8.5x11) and A4 (8.3"x11.7") sized prints.??The total number of prints submitted is likely be greater than for the prior monthly print exchanges, so for those participants in the USA a USPS Flat Rate Medium size box is probably the best choice, especially if you are participating in both the B&W and Color print exchanges. ?5) For example, mailing your prints (addressed to the print exchange coordinator) in a USPS Flat Rate envelope or medium size box with an enclosed prepaid USPS Click-n-Ship return LABEL for a Flat Rate envelope or medium size box (addressed to yourself)?should work?very well. ?See this message for additional details?and images of how others have packaged their prints. 6) If you have not included a return postage pre-paid label please send the print exchange coordinator funds for the cost of a USPS Flat Rate envelope or medium size box (whichever you prefer to use) attached to a sheet of paper which?clearly?shows your return address.? 7) Upload a file of the image you have printed into the?correct photo album.? It permits those that are not actively participating in the current exchange an opportunity to observe.? It also creates a historical record that is useful over the years.? 8) Comments on prints are welcome and encouraged, but are not required for participation in a print exchange.? Any topic or theme for a print exchange is entirely optional. With best regards, Gary Benson one of the print exchange moderators ? |

I mailed all of the US bound prints yesterday and the box of prints to India for Jayanand, Nara and Prabhakaran today. ?When Mike is ready, we’ll arrange to have his prints picked up for delivery to the UK. Gary |
missed large print deadline
Hi Folks:?
Regrettably, I've been unable to get my set of large prints out to you all this go-round—despite best efforts.? I apologize to those of you who produced large prints for me, but trust you'll find a proper home for those no doubt lovely prints.? I will look forward to enjoying your standard sized prints, as well as the e-images of your large ones, and hope to participate in the large print exchange next go-round.? Appreciatively,? —闯辞蝉丑 Daniels |
Re: Update re Feb/Mar 2024 Large and Regular Exchanges
开云体育Hi Gary-You shouldn’t be working on holidays?:-) There is no problem with postage due…if there is some, it’s because I (or the original shipper) did not put the proper amount on the return and that is where the cost should be paid. Thanks for your above the required care of our prints? Tom Tom O'Connell tomoconnell44@...

Update re Feb/Mar 2024 Large and Regular Exchanges
I sorted and packed all of the prints today. For the four people who participated in the regular exchange but not the large exchange (Steve, Josh, David and Oscar), I will be mailing your prints today or delivering them in person this week (Oscar).
For those who participated in both the large and regular exchanges, I hope to get yours in the mail on Monday, unless you’ve requested that I hold your package to mail at a later date. I still have some issues to sort out re securely fitting all the prints in the mailers. ?Also, for the US bound mailers I want to have a USPS postal clerk verify whether the postage on the mailers will be charged at the flat rate for a medium box or a rate based on the flattened box size/weight. We’ve had inconsistent results from USPS locations in the past so I want to avoid any problems with “postage due”. Thanks again to everyone who participated in the regular and/or the annual large print exchange! Gary |

Update on Feb/Mar Large & Regular Exchanges
Hi folks.? We are getting very close to the end of March due date for the Feb/March exchanges.? I hope to recieve all of the prints no later than Saturday the 30th so I can spend next weekend sorting, packaging and mailing the prints back to you.? Kathleen and I will be flying Texas during the first week of April to see the total solar eclipse on April 8th, so I'll be busy during the first few days of April getting ready for that trip.? We won't be back in Alaska until the 15th.
First off, I want to thank everyone who has already sent their prints to me.? I really appreciate getting them well before the due date. Large BW & Color I've received prints from all participants but one.? I expect his prints will be mailed this coming Tuesday and hope they will arrive here by the 30th. Regular BW & Color I've received prints from all particpant but three.? I expect to receive prints from two of them in the next few days and hope the final set will arrive by the 30th. It takes more time to sort and pack both large and regular size prints, but it is generally more efficient and cost effective to bundle them all together and in a single mailer/box (when possible).? I'll be quite busy next weekend getting these all ready to go and mailed out.? I'm sure for those of you who are participating in the large print exchange, you'll find it was worth the time, effort and added cost on your end. I'll post another note next weekend with an update. Best regards, Gary |

Re: Photos posted to the Feb/March print exchange albums
开云体育Hello All:?A brief comment on this month’s round of prints: one of the most enjoyable sets to date—wow!? I would love to give more individual and specific appreciation and comment than time allows me. So—for now—a shout out to all who have contributed your thoughtfully and most skillfully produced images and prints to this last go-round of our exchange. Thank you so much, and what a true pleasure to receive such a bounty.? The prints have sat on my kitchen table more than a week, where I flip through them regularly, and they have now become familiar. My partner, Elaine, has leafed through them a few times as well, and has indicated to me her “favorites” (we have a few points of overlap). First impressions have given way to a more nuanced understanding of the subject matter and the approach to it, and my appreciation has deepened for the choices you've made in bringing forth your vision.? A big thanks to Gary, as always, for keeping our exchange going, time and again.? Cheers, —闯辞蝉丑
