Reminder: Oct/Nov prints due by end of November
Hi folks. ?I¡¯ve received prints from about the half the participants in the Oct/Nov exchanges. ?There are 10 days left in November, so if you haven¡¯t printed or mailed them yet, this week would be a good time to do it. ?
I would like to have all the prints in hand by the end of November so I can get them sorted, repackaged and mailed back to you in the first week of December. Thanks! Gary |

Gary, No sweat. I just joined the group and read the messages! Re: Aug/Sept prints
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýStephen, Thanks for the input on my photo. ?It was a happy combination of the light in the shop and the soot and grime in the old machine. ?And of course Gary's print making skills. (Gary makes my prints for me). ?I think your shot of the old truck is a 40 Chevy. ?I had one for many years. ?It tried to kill me in many different ways. ?It's a great picture.?

Stephen, Glad you liked my print, and even happier that it triggered pleasant memories for you Cheers Jayanand On Wed, Oct 26, 2022 at 7:59 AM Stephen Mustoe <smustoe@...> wrote: I am enjoying this most recent exchange (as usual), especially the color prints. Quite a nice variety of images. There are two that I keep coming back to and find truly exceptional. Otto Bacon¡¯s lusciously rich image of the vintage battery charger is amazing. Wow! I have shown it to a few friends who think it could easily be a painting. And I agree fully with Gary¡¯s assessment of Jayanand¡¯s Lilac-breasted Roller. A truly remarkable print that captures both the vibrant light of sunset on the Mara plain and the brilliant hues of one of my favorite African birds. This particular Roller has a special place in my heart. When I lived at altitude in Western Kenya I would often drop down into the Rift Valley to go birding at Lake Baringo. And there were always a number of Rollers in the trees around my camp site, including one particularly territorial female who would attack me whenever I ventured too close to her nest. Just looking at Jayanand's print makes me tearfully nostalgic. |

Re: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint
Hi Keith.? I see that you are looking for the original Yahoo DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint group (where many of the discussions took place before and after Tom created the Yahoo digitalbw-printexchanges group in 2002).? I have looked for that group several times on Groups.io with no luck, which surprises me.? It seems they may not have made the transition from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io.? Perhaps they moved the group to some other online forum.? If you do find the reincarnation of the DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint Yahoo group on some other platform (or here on Groups.io), please let us know!
In the meantime, we would certainly welcome your participation again in one of our bi-monthly print exchanges (B&W, color or both)! I hope you are well now and back to making prints again.? :-) With regards, Gary Benson print exchange coordinator |

Rhonda loves the paper Jayanand chose (Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Metallic) so much that she made me order a box of it. Now to find an image of my own that will do it justice :) |
Re: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint
Hi Keith-
Welcome back! The Yahoo groups became unusable and when we moved to IO we decided to combine the color and BW ... so you are definitely in the right place. Glad to hear you are doing well... Want to join a BW or color exchange, just post your interest here and Gary will fill you in. cheers, Tom O'Connell |
Re: FINAL UPDATE: Aug/Sept Prints
Gary, Thanks for the thumbs up. The best opportunities for colour photography in the Serengeti ecosystem typically occur at sunrise/sunset, where typically we hunt for large animals to silhouette against the riot of colour. for example: This time, one of the smallest denizens of the grasslands was the prime subject!
