In search of rifle for Assassins
Hi there, We are currently looking for a stage-ready rifle (no firing pin with a blocked barrel) that is either like, or similar to, the one pictured below. I recognize that loaning firearms (prop or otherwise) comes with a certain level of safety concern so I want to assure folks that we will be practicing the highest level of safety when utilizing the rifle. If you have any leads, please let us know. Regards, Rusty -- Rusty Tennant Artistic Director Fuse Theatre Ensemble The OUTwright Theatre Festival

Stage Fright Festival 2025 applications open until May 16
Hello, The Stage Fright Festival is a queer horror theatre festival in Portland (I believe the only one of its kind) and we are entering our fourth year! This year, festival dates are October 9-19 and the fest will take place at CoHo. Shows are selected by our board members based on alignment with our mission and values. Selected companies pay a very small production fee based on show length ($100-$300), will get 2-3 performance slots, and keep the rest of their ticket sales. We welcome and would like to see more applications with an intersectional perspective (i.e. Black queer horror, AAPI queer horror, Latinx queer horror, stories with disability and/or neurodiversity, etc.) Also, we were able to provide ASL interpretation for a handful of shows last year and plan to do so again, and I would LOVE to see a production incorporate ASL into their performances. If you're interested, we can help make this happen! If you don't have a show yourself but would like to be connected with producers, or if you would like to be involved in other ways, you can email us at creeps@.... Application and more info is at: https://www.stagefrightfestival.com/artist-application We will accept proposals until May 16th. This is my pdxbackstage email, but my festival email is jeff@.... Feel free to reach out with questions/feedback/anything. Thanks! Jeff Desautels

Free Shakespeare Educational Books on Offer
3
Does anyone (likely a teacher) want a free set of educational Shakespeare books? I'd guess they're largely aimed at grades 8/9, and are formatted sort of like "no fear shakespeare" where each scene has a little synopsys at the beginning, and there are footnotes to help translate on every opposite page. I've got: Tempest Julius Caesar Midsummer Merchant of Venice Hamlet Twelfth Night 2 copies of Romeo and Juliet And two very abridged versions of Midsummer and Romeo and Juliet that say they're aimed at grades 6-9 that are more curriculum oriented and come with activities and discussion questions. Happy to give to a good home, especially a classroom, just message me!-- Sophina Flores She/Her/Ella Portfolio: https://angelverityita.wixsite.com/sophinaflores Artistic Director of Roots and All Theatre Ensemble (971) 340-6486

You are invited to THE REDEMPTION SHOW at Performance Works NW (April 1
Hello PDX Backstage community! You are invited to the The Redemption Show, premiering THIS WEEKEND at Performance Works Northwest as part of Fertile Ground Festival 2025! The Redemption Show is an evening of four dance and performance art solos by myself, collaborators Sam Cimino and Nikki Flinn, and my sister Kat Freya. We are so excited to share these four original solos created in the incubator of our friendship, sisterhood, and love. While each solo tells a unique story, all of us are circling around a thread of resistance, healing, and empowerment. Tickets: Available on a sliding scale HERE (note: you do not need a Fertile Ground Festival Pass for General Admission tix) Show details: Friday, April 18, 7:30PM Saturday, April 19, 7:30PM Sunday, April 20, 2:00PM Venue: Performance Works Northwest | 4625 SE 67th Avenue Can't wait to share this powerful evening of performance with you! Lauren "Mysticaloom" by Sam Cimino Channeling the ethereal, the void, the stories of women past, and the divine, "Mysticaloom" is a texturally sonic painting of resistance, connection, resilience, and tenacity. It explores multifaceted perspectives and journeys to and from other worlds. It is an honoring of the voice and body that allows for dynamic expression, and the challenges one must transcend to remember the way of trusting the threads and torches carried forth. “Mesmerized” by Nikki Flinn Welcome ladies and gentleman! Step right up and look behind the curtain. What is real? What is illusion? "Mesmerized" invites consideration of magic and religion, the relationship to the feminine, and how everyone has their own connection to the divine. "SMARTER" by Lauren Frey "SMARTER" follows the inner monologue of a woman who falls into the psychologically trippy hole that is the workplace. Through a sequence of intimate scenes — from toxic-polite performance reviews to sexual harassment — this show explores what it means to “perform” in a system that reduces people to tools, preys on desperation, and normalizes the fragmentation of the self. Combining humor, “parts” dialogue, and some absurd movement that involves a swivel chair, SMARTER is a kind of adult bildungsroman that ultimately asks how far you are willing to go to “get smart” in capitalism, a system that inevitably hurts, and makes fool of, us all. "Fangirl" by Kat Freya I could say I had a bad crush at age fifteen. I could say I fell in love hard — like, bruised knees and bloody knuckles against the pavement kind-of-hard — for a man I haven’t met (yet?). I could say I’ve Googled his handwriting. I could say I’ve surrendered to the all-consuming pleasure of longing. I could say I am the monster, the man-eater. I could say, after all these years, I’m still in the chokehold. I could say I’ve turned feral obsession into art. I could say this is desire performing itself performing itself. I could say I am performing both intellectual subject and hysterical object. Or, I could just say I’m a fangirl. Then what? What do I have to say for myself? What do I have left to say?

"Sally" takes the stage Wednesday, April 16 at CoHo Theatre

Hi fellow PDX Talent! If YOU would like a COMP to any of these shows, lemme know
Hi fellow PDX Talent! “You” may have seen my Group POST of my various Fertile Grounds? We had Opening Night for one of the FIVE projects I’m so fortunate to be a part of. Last night, TONIGHT, tomorrow night (Sat.) and a Sunday matinee are all at Chapel Theatre in Milwaukie. If YOU would like a COMP to any of these shows, lemme know, I have a couple per show SOOOO…direct DM me! Here’s a quick review from one of my audience last night… “Hi Doug, Terrific show and acting. Creative scripts. Wow. My cheeks were sore at the conclusion of Triptych from laughing and smiling so much” The reason I am replying all to David Berksons’ POST is because boy do I support everyone else’s Fertile Ground shows! If I was not on stage tonight, I’d certainly be going for his generous 2 for 1 “Am I Blue”! Get out, see others shows, maybe if (like me) you are an Actor in a show they’ll let you in as a Walk In?
