config.status: error: cannot find input file: `Makefile.in'
3
Okay, so I have hit a snag in the build process following the instructions at: http://bazaudi.com/plu/doku.php?id=plu:install_plu So, I get the error: config.status: error: cannot find input file: `Makefile.in' And as suggested, I run: automake --add-missing ./configure --enable-postfix However, the build process fails with the same error as above. I am using automake-1.15 and Raspbian Stretch updated to today. And I did copy the missing file to the paclink-unix directory. I don't think that I missed any steps, but any thoughts would be appreciated.-- Ian Truelsen VA7IHT s/v Pilgrim's Progress

[Possible Spam]Re: ax25.service not found
Ian, Basil - If you are having troubles running the ax25 service under systemd I may be of some assistance. I have been reworking some of the ax25 software and configuration files myself, so as to be able to run the services better under systemd on my own OpenSuSE system. I have also been making some general improvements to other areas of the code as well, such as improving the parameter handling, the help info and made some improvements with logging. I have just integrated my first round of changes and got things working again but plan on making some further improvements shortly and I am currently doing some further testing just to make sure I haven't broke anything. If you like, I can make the software changes I made available which will also give you an idea of the direction I have headed. Just let me know how you would like to pick up the changes. If you can't find the ax25.service file here is a copy of mine, however, until you incorporate the rest of the software changes I have made you will need to comment out the PIDFile= line in my version - 73's Marc Chamberlin

ax25.service not found
3
I have tried following a couple of ax25 installs on a raspberry pi 3 using both jessie and stretch, including the paclinx unix instructions, and I have run up against this every time. When I try to start the ax25 service, it won't start throwing the error that ax25.service is not found. Do I have to build build a new kernel with ax25 built in? Is ax25.service in a specific package? -- Ian Truelsen VA7IHT s/v Pilgrim's Progress

Cannot acces ID51plus through datacable
2
Hello, I bought a somewhat cheaper datacable (FTDI chipset) to connect the ID51plus to my computer. The cable was recognized and drivers were installed automatically. However, the CS51 software would not connect to the radio (No answer from transceiver). I also tried chirp but that did not work as well (https://github.com/beagleboard/pocketbeagle/wiki/FAQ#What_is_the_pinout_for_the_expansion_headers). I also tried installing the drivers for the genuine OPC-2218/2250 cable but that didn't work either. I tried under Linux too. Even though the cable is recognized as /dev/ttyUSB0, connection with both chirp and CS51 (through ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1) fails as well. Do I have to configure anything in the radio, like CI-V? Thank you in advance and 73 Chris

Problems with wl2kax25
6
So, I have followed the setup instructions on http://bazaudi.com/plu/doku.php?id=start on a Raspberry Pi3 and everything has gone well up until the ax25 test. Wl2ktelnet test sends and receives with no problems. When I try to test wl2kax25, the connection times out. I can see that the PTT and DCO lights on the TNC-X will blink occasionally, but there does not seem to be anything transmitted or received. I have checked the file permissions and they match up with what is expected. So, I am thinking that this is either a configuration problem, a TNC-X problem, a cable problem, or a radio problem. I would think that configuration is the most likely candidate, so here I am. The axports file seemed most likely, since I am not sure what some of the parameters do, so this is what I have: # /etc/ax25/axports # # port name....: Any meaningful combination of letters & numbers # callsign.....: Your call sign (UPPER CASE) with an SSID, none defaults to -0 # speed........: What your TNC's serial line is set for, usually 9600 # paclen.......: One frame length # window.......: Should be equal to, or less than, what's in your TNC # description..: The frequency and/or a node name, or more info about the port # # The format for this file is: # ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- # port | callsign | TNC | | | # name | w/ SSID | speed | paclen | window | description # ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- # # NOTE: there can be ONLY one occurrance of a port/callsign-ssid key! # vhf2 VA7IHT-1 1200 256 2 TNC-X I found the baud rate default for the TNC-X is 1200, so I set that, but I could not find the paclength or window settings anywhere, so I am not sure that I have those correct. I also altered the ax25-up script to include my callsign and vhf2 port. #!/bin/bash # PORTNAME="vhf2" SERIALPORT="/dev/ttyUSB0" CALLSIGN="VA7IHT" Is there anything else that I need to deal with configuration wise? If anyone out there is using the TNC-X successfully, am I using the correct settings for it in the axports file? Any other thoughts on where I should be looking? -- Ian Truelsen VA7IHT s/v Pilgrim's Progress

PACLINK-UNIX RMS Gateway Configuration for RPi using Direwolf and UDRC II Sound Card 6pin Din
2
I followed Basil¡¯s (N7NIX) scripts to configure a Raspberry Pi to be a RMS Gateway. I¡¯m using Direwolf and the NW Digital UDRC-II sound card. I think everything worked however I don¡¯t know where you define which of the two UDRC II Ports are to be used by the Gateway. I know that the 6-pin din connector on the sound card is addressed as channel 1 in Direwolf. How or where do you tell the RMS Gateway software to use Direwolf¡¯s Channel 1? I also posted this question to the UDRC Group.io.

(Minor) configuration issues/soundcard support
5
Hello and thanks for adding! I'm quite new to hamradio and totally new to winlink, pactor and such. I decided to give it a go and installed paclink-unix today. And, of course I ran into the authentication error in the first place but figured it out after I realized that the CVS-source is actually much newer than the tarball (which is from 2013) and encryption was only introduced in 2015. Since winlink.org points directly to the outdated tarball, you might want to put up a newer one (or at least a hint that the old one is not functional any longer)? I had some minor issues in configuring sendmail (the howto at start [paclink-unix] does only explain Exim and Postfix configurations but not the good old sendmail stuff). After some trial and error I managed to set it up with kmail using the wl2k.m4 file and a movemail command which is controlled by incron. It somewhat works now but the current sendmail config does require the sender to apply .wl2k to the receiver domain, e.g. to send a mail to "mailer@..." through paclink one has to supply .wl2k by hand and alter the receiving address to "mailer@...", which can of course be annoying when replying to emails. On Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, there is no MTA in the basic install, therefore paclink is probably the only instance which is actually utilizing sendmail. I therefore wonder if someone could help me out how to configure sendmail to direct all messages (except for those directed to localhost) through paclink (and if this would be a good idea at all?). The other thing is: According to http://winlink.org/ClientSoftware, paclink-unix supports soundcards. How do I utilize my soundcard for packet radio, or is a TNC (or Pactor modem) required? Regarding Pactor, used Pactor 3 modems are pretty hard to find and often expensive, and for the new modems it appears more reasonable to go for a Pactor 4 modem. As there is no support for Pactor 4 yet, do those modems work in Pactor 3 mode or not at all? Thank you in advance! Chris

trouble logging in to winlink
16
Dear paclink-unix group, I turn to this forum since I haven't managed to find anyone else that could help. A couple of days ago, I successfully set up paclink-unix on my laptop running ubuntu 16.04. I edited the wl2k.con-file to include my signal SA0BXI, and then successfully made my first connection ever to a winlink CMSserver to get a winlink account, sa0bxi@..., strictly following the 6-item instruction at http://www.winlink.org/user. I got an email with a personal password back, which I used to login at http://www.winlink.org/user. There I filledl in my adress details and changed the personal password according the instructions and saved my account record page. So far so good. I then assumed (seemingly incorrectly) that, when reconnecting to send a test email, I should include my personal password in the wl2k.conf file. I did so, but did then get the following response:: ----------- bjorn@bpX260:~$ sudo wl2ktelnet [sudo] password for bjorn: Connecting to server.winlink.org 8772 ... Connected. Callsign : SA0BXI Password : wl2ktelnet: -- wl2ktelnet: <*** Password does not match - Disconnecting (83.209.237.94) wl2ktelnet: Lost connection. 1 bjorn@bpX260:~$ ---------- After several retries and finally a question to winlink supprt, they told me that the password in wl2k.conf should always be CMSTELNET to be able to connect to th CMSserver. So I exchanged my personal password for CMSTELNET, tried again and got the following response: ----------- bjorn@bpX260:~$ sudo wl2ktelnet [sudo] password for bjorn: Connecting to server.winlink.org 8772 ... Connected. Callsign : SA0BXI Password : wl2ktelnet: --- wl2ktelnet: <[WL2K-3.2-B2FWIHJM$] wl2ktelnet: sid [WL2K-3.2-B2FWIHJM$] inboundsidcodes -B2FWIHJM$ wl2ktelnet: <;PQ: 01708723 wl2ktelnet: <SanDiego CMS > wl2ktelnet: >; WL2K DE SA0BXI QTC 0 wl2ktelnet: >[PaclinkUNIX-0.5-B2FIHM$] wl2ktelnet: >FF wl2ktelnet: <*** [2] Secure login failed - no response to challenge - Disconnecting (83.209.237.94) wl2ktelnet: unrecognized command (len 86): /*** [2] Secure login failed - no response to challenge - Disconnecting (83.209.237.94)/ bjorn@bpX260:~$ ----------------- I assume this is due to the fact that I have not provide my personal password anywhere. I have spent a lot of time trying to understand where to put t in but failed. This is now my question: How and where in the process of sending an email should I provide my personal password? Or is that the worng question? What I really want of course is to successfully send an email and getone back, just to verify that the system works.anks Could anyone explain to a paclink-unix and winlink newbie? Thanks /Bjorn

Issue with wl2kax25 and challenge auth

Hello! Does anyone know how to get the challenge auth working with wl2kax25 on linux? I am seeing the following when attempting a connection: Connected to AX.25 stack Child process wl2kax25: --- wl2kax25: <[WL2K-3.2-B2FWIHJM$] wl2kax25: sid [WL2K-3.2-B2FWIHJM$] inboundsidcodes -B2FWIHJM$ wl2kax25: <;PQ: 54770131 wl2kax25: <SanDiego CMS via K2RDX > wl2kax25: >; K2RDX-10 DE N6ACK QTC 0 wl2kax25: >[PaclinkUNIX-0.5-B2FIHM$] wl2kax25: >FF wl2kax25: <*** [2] Secure login failed - no response to challenge - Disconnecting (107.220.149.255) wl2kax25: unrecognized command (len 88): /*** [2] Secure login failed - no response to challenge - Disconnecting (107.220.149.255)/ EOF on child fd, terminating communications loop. Closing ax25 connection After looking through the source code it appears the challenge auth is not implemented. The specs for this are laid out here: Passwords with Keyboard Mode and APRSLink Passwords with Keyboard Mode and APRSLink Both keyboard mode and the APRS gateway now allow access with your Winlink password to the CMS using a simple challenge/response protocol. Your password is never sent in the clear over the air. LOGIN If secure login is enabled for your account (or, in the future, required).... paclink-unix repo copied to github
I've copied the cvs paclink-unix repository to github and I'm now using that repo for changes using git. https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/paclink-unix You can get the latest source code using git: git clone https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/paclink-unix I also made a script that installs & configures paclink-unix, postfix & mutt. The script assumes that ax.25 has already been installed. https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix/blob/master/plu/plu_install.sh You can get the script this way: git clone https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix then cd n7nix/config become root and: ./app_install.sh plu Read the Markdown files (.md) in https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix for further information. I only have paclink-unix basic working at the moment. Should have the paclink-unix imap script working in a couple of weeks. /Basil n7nix

paclink-unix installation
9
Please help me, poor newbee, out of the ditch. I was trying to install paclink-unix by following instructions under www.bazaudi.com/plu/doku.php and stucked at the step ¡°Add user to the group¡±. The procedure say use ¡°usermod -a -G postdrop webman¡± (while changing user name webman to something appropriate). I have an Error saying ¡°the user (my user name instead of webman) does not exist¡± so that I can not move up to next step. What did I do wrong? Up to this point, I do have done all the things successfully without any error. Please advise me what to do. Second, Do I need to install both postfix and exim4 (shown on the instruction) for or just postfix installation is enough for? I only need to use winlink 2000 as a client for working with my county EOC. Thanks in advance for your help. KJ 73 de KJ7LIM Sent from Mail for Windows 10

wl2kserial bug ?
6
Hi, It appear that the protocol of transmission is not the same via telnet and via HF. PacLink (wl2ktelnet and wl2kserial) that use the same function, doing good via telnet but return a bug via HF. This bug seem to be at the end of the sending of a message. there is a symetrical problem at reception expecting a CHRSTX or CHREOT and that is an other char. 73 FM4PN Jean Pierre

secure login works ok with wl2ktelnet, but not through wl2kserial
Dear all, I don't know if that is related to the problems already reported with wl2kserial. set up and configured paclink-unix on a Pi with a PTC-IIe attached, using opensmtpd as mail daemon (only needs 4 lines of config for this setup, very nice). wl2ktelnet works perfectly. Secure login is done (tried by removing the credentials, then it fails, so the challenge response seems to work ok). wl2kserial however shows (this has been done with my friend's station in Curacao): mycall PJ2BRtones 4chobell 0lfignore 1cmd:c WG3Gwl2kserial: ---wl2kserial: <Mycall: >PJ2BR<wl2kserial: <wl2kserial: <?cmd:wl2kserial: <*** AUDIO TONES: 4wl2kserial: <wl2kserial: <cmd:wl2kserial: <*** CHANGEOVER-BELL-PARAMETER: 0wl2kserial: <wl2kserial: <cmd:wl2kserial: <*** LF IGNORE PARAMETER: 1wl2kserial: <wl2kserial: <cmd:wl2kserial: <*** NOW CALLING WG3Gwl2kserial: <?*** CONNECTED TO WG3Gwl2kserial: <RMS Trimode 1.3.9.0 Welcome to WG3Gwl2kserial: <PJ2BR has 118 minutes remaining with WG3Gwl2kserial: <[WL2K-3.2-B2FWIHJM$]wl2kserial: sid [WL2K-3.2-B2FWIHJM$] inboundsidcodes -B2FWIHJM$wl2kserial: <;PQ: 303273??77wl2kserial: <Perth CMS via WG3G >wl2kserial: >; WG3G DE PJ2BR QTC 0wl2kserial: >[UnixLINK-0.5-B2FIHM$]wl2kserial: >FFwl2kserial: <???????***?? Sending Winlink Email via Command Line
3
Hi all, I've got a good email system running on the Raspberry Pi (see http://pigate.net). Thanks to all who have posted various guides, they helped a lot. The e-mail system works perfectly with Squirrelmail, but I find that I'd like to compose some messaged programatically, and need to send these messages from the command line. I realize Squirrelmail uses IMAP to deliver the message. All my "normal" attempts to get this working just result in mail put into the spool director for exim (/var/spool/exim) and I can't figure out how to get it to the paclink-unix outbox at /usr/local/var/wlk2/outbox. I know I must be missing something simple. I thought I could use /usr/local/libexe/mail.wl2k but I don't know the syntax. My other approach was to just format the message and drop it into the outbox, but I'm unsure how to create the message label so it will be unique. Are there guidelines for this? Any help would be appreciated. Mark KD0QYN
