Berkeley DB version

I see in the INSTALL file that I should choose the latest DB (4.x) from Oracle. The latest is 6.0.30 with the latest 4.x of 4.8.30. The earliest 4.x version available is 4.0.17.

Question: which version to use with paclink-unix?
Am I d/l'ing too much, so that I really need only some dev files?
Need a bit more hand-holding, I guess.

Depending on which Linux distro you are using they will have different
versions of packages in the distro repo like Berkeley DB.

For example on my workstation running Debian Wheezy I am using libdb5.1-dev.
On another running Debian Squeeze I am using libdb4.8-dev

Please use the version of paclink-unix from the cvs repository.
Check out the install wiki () & try to
follow that through, it will show you the cvs check out procedure.

Thank you Basil for the info. Looks like I downloaded way too much. Delete key works just fine. ;-)
My distro is Ubunu 14.04 LTS
And, thank you for the link to the Install Wiki. I'm in Winders to do email, so will reboot to get back to "real work".
