Key Points from Tonight's Meeting
3
Thank you to everyone who participated in tonight's Mar Vista Community Council Community Plan Sub-Committee meeting. Kinkia Gardner and Diego Janacua from the planning office fielded questions for over two hours. The proposed upzoning of the North side of Pacific Ave. was brought up three times throughout the call - thank you Angel and our Zone 5 director, Michelle Krupkin. Additionally, frequently discussed topics of the evening were density requirements and building heights in the proposed draft plan. For those of us in this area and throughout Mar Vista, we are at risk for Venice Blvd and surrounding areas to be built up to 2 - 5+ stories, overshadowing the privacy of those on the North side of Pacific Ave and creating traffic and parking issues for our entire neighborhood. I urge those opposed to these two issues to voice your concerns via email to Diego, Kinikia and to Mike Bonin's office (all email addresses in the flyer delivered to your door and attached to this message) by September 15. Additionally, Diego mentioned that he and Kinikia will host office hours in a couple of weeks where they will open up times for groups to speak with them about their concerns of the plan. If you are interested in getting a group together from our neighborhood, please let me know (I assume this will be on Zoom). Thank you.

Draft Letter
#upzoning
Here's a version of what I wrote to the city. Feel free to copy, edit if you'd like. Dear ___________, I am writing to share with you my concerns regarding the Draft Concept Plan and the pending upzoning of certain areas in Mar Vista. As you are closely involved with this project and our community, I wanted to share the following concerns with you regarding the North side of Pacific Ave between Marcasel and East. This area of Pacific is a one way street that is adjacent to the North Oval Historical District, in fact our neighbors on the South side of our small street are included in the historical designation. Currently the north side of Pacific is marked for upzoning. I would like to appeal on two fronts: 1) why the north side of a one way street is not included in the historical designation while the south side of the street is, my neighbors in the Oval seem to feel this may have been an error on the map and/or omission that should be corrected and 2) the proposed upzoning of one side of a street when the other side of this quaint, one way street is part of the historical district. I kindly ask you to support our opposition to the upzoning of the North side of Pacific Ave between Marcasel and East. Please let me know any next steps or information you require for your reconsideration. Sincerely,

Hello & Introduction
#upzoning
Hi - My name is Jamia and my husband, Jeff, and I live at 11921 Pacific Ave. You've likely heard that the City of LA is undergoing an upzoning exercise and that the current draft directly impacts the one-way stretch of Pacific between Marcasel and East. Check out the Draft Concept Plan and map at the link and/or image below that designates our block to be subject to upzoning. Meaning, zoning would allow duplexes or perhaps even more dense building on the north side of our quaint, one-way street. Also, the south side of our street is protected within the North Oval Historical designation but the north side of our street is not. We are not sure if this omission is an error or how that happened, but there are folks in the neighborhood investigating and will post more information here once I have it. Since this plan is still in draft phase, you can VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION by September 15 by emailing the following people: (UPDATE: I think this platform is truncating the email addresses for privacy. You can find full email contact info in the pdf flyer that is attached.) Los Angeles City Planning Office: Diego Janacua: diego.janacua@... Kinikia Gardner: kinikia.gardner@...
