Sticky Welcome new members!
This group is set for first messages to be moderated. I invite new members to post a message to the group - maybe tell us which Pace family you belong to or the Pace you are trying to find. The archives are currently open to the public for viewing just as the Rootsweb mail list archives are. I'm still working through the learning curve of 开云体育 so not everything is necessarily set up yet. Rebecca Christensen

2020 Pace Society #Reunion Cancelled 2 #reunion
Dear Friends, Effective immediately, due to concerns for the safety of our families, the 2020 Pace Society Reunion is rescheduled for 24 June – 26 June 2021 in Huntsville, Alabama. Miriam Nixon who did such a wonderful job planning this year’s reunion will host the rescheduled meeting. She reports that the Huntsville Marriott at the Space & Rocket Center is still the host hotel. This was a difficult decision for the board, but we believe it is in the best interest of the society and its members. We need to follow established protocols for dealing with a pandemic and trust the Lord to bring us and our country through these trying times. Sincerely, Alexia Jones Helsley President, Pace Society of America

Resources 3
Some resources you may have forgotten, or didn't know about... In July 1905 William Henry Clark, then approximately 80 years old, published a booklet titled Genealogy of the Clark and Pace Families in which he set down what he recalled about his Clark and Pace ancestors, as well as many of their relations. His booklet, with additional notes, is available at https://www.gensoup.org/genealogy/clark.html . John Pace of Middlesex County's will is available here: https://www.gensoup.org/genealogy/john-pace-will.html . A transcription of the will of Captain John Pace was provided to me by the late Ruth Keys Clark, a noted genealogist. It was taken from the 1825 Henry County, Virginia Will Book, pages 112-114. The transcription is available here: https://www.gensoup.org/genealogy/capt-john-pace-will.html . Charlie Hartley

Which Pace family do you belong to?/Response
Hello; In response to your Question. I am in the William-Isaac-John descendent group. Jefferson Jeremiah Pace is my Great Grandfather, He and William Wesley are Brothers. They are children of John Pace [1836-1865] and Minerva Jane Batton. John back to Isaac Pace [1798-1840] back to William Pace SR. [1750-1834] and Ruth Lambert. Further Family Records reach back from William Pace Sr. to James Pace I [1722-1766] to George Pace II [1694-1742] to John Pace I [1668-1727] to Richard Pace III [1638-1677] to George Pace [1609-1655] to Richard Pace [1587-1624] This information was provided by a family member, now deceased. whom I greatly miss. On the subject of my Patterson Family Name: The records show the following. In the1888-1889 time frame Jeff Pace was courting Mattie Smith, daughter of Thomas B.Smith and brother of Jasper N. Smith [Dr. Smith]. Mattie became pregnant and they planned to to be married. A marriage license was obtained on Sept 6.1889. as recorded in Humphreys County Marriage Book H page169. At the last minute Jeff backed out of the wedding plans. Mattie gave birth to a son in November 1889,which she named Wilmot[Ed this is my Grandfather]. At the time Mattie was 16 yrs and 9 months old and Jeff was 28 years old. Matties Brother, Dr. Smith, sued Jeff on behalf of Mattie, since she was under age,for breach of promise and she was awarded damages by the Court. These damages were paid by transfer of a parcel of land. [ED I have the surveyors plat of this parcel on the Tennessee River] [later when the TVA. Tennessee Valley Authority Damed the river to provide Power, the land was flooded] [ED After Mattie died, the TVA awarded payment to Wilmot and Matties other children for the land.] I have these documents as well. After Wilmot was born he was cared for by other members of the Family for a period of time. Later Mattie married W.T.Patterson, who "adopted" Wilmot and gave him the Patterson name. Their marriage license was issued on May 19 ,1892 as recorded in the Humphreys County Marriage Book H page 524. The 1900 census for the 4th district Humphreys County Page 215A June 6 1900 shows Wm. T. and Martha E.Patterson listed as being married 9 years. Wilmot is listed as born Nov 1889, and 10 years old. Pace family lore says that Wilmot knew that Jeff was his father and that Jeff confirmed it one time when Wilmot asked him if it Best regards Morris patterson

Replacing the elephants 3
You may have wondered what the elephants have to do with the Pace families. It is the default group picture. I need to find a picture that is a good representation of our Pace families that is the right dimension for the header photo for the Pace Family group home page. But my daughter who is a fan of elephants probably thinks I should keep the default picture. Any ideas? Rebecca
