I know this is a primarily UK/EU-based group, but might it be worth discussing the recent changes at the federal level around DEI and accessibility and how that is/could affect things globally?

?

Thanks!

Hi

?

This might not be a point for the meeting (I’m relatively new on this group), but has there been discussion or are there resources on the best experiences/practices with Maths?? There are a number of different experiences across different published formats (PDF, EPUB, Web) allowing options.? From image and alt-text, which has problems for larger equations, to mathml and issues with some rendering/reading, and svg (via MathJax) with aria-label using speech rule engine

?

Is this the right forum?

Hi Mike,

?

Maths is certainly a relevant topic here, so as a starting point you may find it helpful to browse previous messages (that link should hopefully take you to the online archive of PAAG messages) by searching for terms such as ‘maths’ or ‘MathML’. You can then see if you still need guidance and ask away!

Hi there

Sorry I won’t be able to join the meeting next week but a couple of things it would be great to get people’s thoughts on are:

?

1.?????? how they are handling videos and audio descriptions in light of ADA

2.?????? how they are communicating externally their plans on being compliant – is a statement on the website enough?

Thanks

Hello Stacy

I would like to add a small point to the agenda in relation to tactile graphics or objects in digital publications

Are publishers seeing real world examples in digital publications of the use of tactile graphics or objects. This is either a resource that gives a model of how to generate a tactile 3D object
Or a link to external resources.

This is a link to the W3C vocabulary that describes a tactile graphic

And this is the link to the W3C vocabulary that describes a tactile object

The ONIX standard can already describe a physical tactile graphic but we have not yet added any codes for digital resources as we are waiting to see if there are real world use cases before we add them.

Thank you?

Chris

Hi Mike,

Maths is certainly a relevant topic here, so as a starting point you may find it helpful to browse previous messages (that link should hopefully take you to the online archive of PAAG messages) by searching for terms such as ‘maths’ or ‘MathML’. You can then see if you still need guidance and ask away!

Hi

Thank you Sarah for this really helpful resource.

To confirm, the ADA will not be on next weeks agenda. I will discuss with the working group, if the topic is appropriate for future meetings, given we are primarily a UK based group. We would also need someone who can provide clear guidance and as far as I know, that guidance does not yet exist.

With kind thanks,

Stacy

Hi Stacy,

I'm interested to know about the ADA that's meant to be updated in 2026- particularly any info on its scope and whether it's going ahead. Can we please add that to the agenda?
Many thanks!

Best,
Lilian

Hi Mike,

?

Maths is certainly a relevant topic here, so as a starting point you may find it helpful to browse previous messages (that link should hopefully take you to the online archive of PAAG messages) by searching for terms such as ‘maths’ or ‘MathML’. You can then see if you still need guidance and ask away!

Kind regards,

Hi
