Hey Everyone! #AURORA ALERT TONIGHT!! "SEVERE STORM IN PROGRESS: Arriving earlier than expected, a CME hit Earth's magnetic field today, April 23rd (1737 UT). The impact has sparked a severe G4-class geomagnetic storm, underway now. During such storms in the past, auroras have been sighted in the USA as far south as Texas and California. minded individuals who love astronomy and sharing it with the
public.
I'm gradually getting organized here... un-dusting my
not-much-used scope and other stuff. ?And starting to get excited
for Astro Day! ?REALLY hoping for a nice sunny day and clear
night!!!

Hi Pierre! Like Andrea I'm getting back into the hobby after a hiatus due to parenting and work commitments. Can I put myself down as tentative for solar observing? I have a tandem setup with a small Ha scope and a white light scope (refractor with a Herschel wedge).

Yes, your son is welcome to volunteer.? Make sure you come see me when you arrive, and provide me your contact info so I can send you a letter after.? Alternatively if your son has the volunteer form from their highschool, I can make an entry and sign it.? FYI, my 15-year old daughter will be volunteering at the event as well.

The plan is for power to be available on site once the Chapters store opens, so after 9:30am.? If we need power before that, I can start up the small generator I will be bringing and run it until the store opens.? Otherwise the generator is for use after the store closes at 8pm.
If you need power during the event, please be sure to bring your own extension cords, power bars, etc.
