2 15 year olds looking for ultimate this summer
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Board,I saw this message come across on Team Snap for DiscOTech. ?The mom of Ben Rogers is looking for more opportunities for Ben and Logan to play ultimate this summer. ?They have played a little with OAK in the past I believe. ?They are both developmental players. Would there be any room for them on Sparks or Ignite? ?I don¡¯t have a good sense yet of what¡¯s happening with ignite since we don¡¯t have any tournaments for them to play at the moment, but I gather they are practicing when anyone practices. Would it be appropriate to tell them to check out Ignite even though they are currently 15? ?Would it be better to see if they wanted to be practice players on Sparks? ?Are we adding depth to Sparks at this point??? ?I¡¯m not sure about these kind of details. So - we have a pretty full field of kids this summer and the issue with adding more (they would only be U15 ignite kids - even if they'd technically by USAU be U17) is making sure we have space/room/focus for the U17 players specifically given our YCC build-up.? It has worked so far (and often works because we just need more players out there to keep things moving given vacations, participation, etc.) but give me a day to chew on this and sync with the other U15/17 coaches.? I know an OAK value proposition is the coaching, etc. so there's a balance between expansion and making sure we have proper coaching numbers.?? I kind of still think of the summer as YCC prep/development, and teams for which we had try-outs, rather than some of the open programs we have through the year - so my first reaction is that it's a bit odd to add someone to YCC practices when they did not try out and have relatively limited existing relationship with the program. I'd be more inclined to make sure they know about our programs starting in Fall and through the year and potentially alert them to other opportunities during the Summer - CUT Camp, pick-up, etc.? I think Jason is going to run some stuff with Lamorinda this Summer that will be largely?developmental and scrimmaging - I am guessing he'd be pretty open to the more, the merrier for those, but would have to ask....
