Slater's 2'9" Lynton & Barnstaple Driving Wheels

So is this story completely untrue or just partly so?? And if partly true, in which way?

David White is the MD of Slater's and was at Bristol 0 Gauge Guild exhibition with the Slater's stand last Sunday. If I recall correctly, there was another David (I can't remember his surname: too many of us around) who did many of the wheels, including those for the first batch of 7mm L&B carriages, but who left a year or more ago. I was told this when I queried the 14mm wheel back-to-backs being not too accurate.
Not sure where that leaves 16mm scale kits.

Now that I think about I seem to remember that his name was David Smith - or am I wrong again?
