And rub some more - it’s also arrived in the /West/ Midlands (well, Shropshire) ;-)
Cheers

开云体育Why not just have it sent directly to the US via subscription rather than through a UK bookseller?? Dave Eggleston Seattle, WA? On Jul 25, 2018, at 2:15 PM, jac19412000 <johnacraigmd@...> wrote:

开云体育Dave,
Several decades of book purchases from this U.K. dealer, and I just had him add "Review" to my standing order for "MRJ", as that was an easier transaction than subscription back in the "bad old days" before PayPal and such! ?At this point, the dealer is "an old friend", who has tracked down any number of "out of print" railway titles for me -- one of the "nice people" we get to meet through the hobby, so I was disinclined to switch to subscription, after years of good service.

开云体育Ah, I see. I just think the middle man might slow down your receipt. But no reason to rock the boat if you’re happy. On Jul 25, 2018, at 4:13 PM, jac19412000 <johnacraigmd@...> wrote:

开云体育At age 77, my definition of "real time" is somewhat "skewed" anyway, and I know that each issue of "Review" and "MRJ' will be a "treat" at whatever time I receive them, so, it "works for me".

开云体育Ah, I only said something because you originally mentioned the non-delivery delay as being a shared pain so it seemed a faster alternative might be offered. On Jul 25, 2018, at 5:23 PM, jac19412000 <johnacraigmd@...> wrote:

开云体育Why,
don’t you fella’s change over to having this mag sent out as a PDF. file,
that way it is almost instant all over the world, much more environmentally
compatible and for those that like to have a paper copy they can simply print it
out for themselves.
In addition to that it could be at the end of each 12 month period a PDF.
is done containing all of the previous 12 months which gives you the option then
of being able to do a search to find a article, instead of flicking through
countless mags trying to find the article you are looking for.

No way Brian - not for me at least.? I have every copy since No.1 and browsing through them is one of the innocent joys of life.
It's the same argument that I, and millions of others, would use against the suggestion that we should all switch to e-books rather than 'real' books.? The electronic substitute may be a sometimes convenient alternative but does not compare to the pleasure of handling the genuine physical article. Noel |
