Old Namibian 600mm railways

Hello, apparently, according to wikipedia, there was a 2ft industrial line between Kolmanskop and Bogenfels in Namibia when it was german south west Africa. I think it was for diamonds. Apparently it was electrified. Does anyone know any more about it and there any photographs anywhere??
David

A good starting point would be Namib Narrow-Gauge by Sydney M Moir and H T Crittenden ISBN 0 620 05915 X
hope this helps.

Hi David,

The university of Frankfurt has a collection of photographs about Namibian railways during German colonial times. Just go to

click on the British flag and enter "namibia" in the first field from the top, and "eisenbahn" in the second. Beefing up your German might help.

Best regards,

Hi David,

A good book is Die Feldspurbahnen Südwestafrikas printed October 1980.

It has photos and drawings of limited detail.

A cover pic attached.
