Oops - now fixed. And yes it will be a 5am start.

Speak for yourself Frank... about 10:15 for me, and that allows five minutes to park :-)

Cheers,
Andrew

Just a few weeks left so I've started cleanup work on my quarry board and ensuring everything works. My K1 is in the middle of rechipping and is in danger of being a static exhibit :(

I confess I've lost the details of who else is going. IIRC Paul H will be their with LMVLR, David M with Abbey Light Railway, Dava with Bunny Old Hill Mine. Can anyone remind me?

John

John,

The list I posted a few nmonths back for Burton on 9 June is below. It may well have changed since but I've not seen an 'official' one, which will probably appear now the Derby show is over.

Bunny Mine

Marl End?

PLR (small quarry board)?

FfWHR?demo

Abbey Light Railway?

+?Ashcross Industrial Museum [016.5].

From the Association website, Bunny Mine, PLR and Abbey Light will appear. Ashcroft too.?
Looks like I’m down as FfWHR here and 014 demo on the 7mm website. My LMVLR layout is next year; I will be soldering and have some display models in 014 and 017.5. Hope to be making a start on Moel Tryfan from a Worsley scratch aid.?
Not sure re Marl End??
Paul?

Marl End is a no show now - Ralph emailed me directly last week to say that unfortunately he would need to withdraw from the show.?

Looking forward to seeing the rest of you in June? - it's not that far away now!

Neil (a somewhat frazzled exhibition coordinator!)

It's going to be a challenge to be ready but I'm going to try.?David helped get the board out of the loft earlier this week and now I've got to: wire up the controllers and panel as an independent unit, add a backscene and lights, install the crane (it normally lives on an adjacent board), tidy all the scenery, and get it all running reliably - which it is not. K1 is still one chip down so will be a no-show.

This is in-between a?very busy full-time job, running NG&I, arranging care for mother-in-law, funeral for her partner, a long weekend away to visit our first grandchild, and get a load of plants into the garden.

Assuming I can find the FACS headboard, the visiting enthusiasts will be there behind their?Decauville! They may be blinking: they've been in a box since ExpoNG.

Sounds like a tall order John! ?Sorry to hear a funeral is involved in your planning - and good luck with arranging care, we know what a nightmare that can be. Can I be of any help with 14mm gauge stock?
Paul

Thanks Paul, I'm ok with mainline stock especially with David's decauville. I have a small RCL Lister for the quarry which currently runs noisily on DC - this may be down to my Gaugemaster controller. I doubt if I'll get the time to fit the CT chip I have. The board has 3 sections which can be switched between DC and DCC.
John

We had a great day today at Burton with our fellow o14 flag flyers. We were all together in the back room and it was good to meet friends old and new, and especially playing host to 5 visiting locos.

The quarry board worked remarkably well as a layout in its own right. It really needed two operators to keep everything running (we were not good at multitasking). If it ever goes out again then it could do with a hidden back track - not that I'm promising it will.

John

Thank you John for allowing us to muscle in and run our stock on your layout. I'm not too sure I was particularly polite because as soon I saw the 14mm gauge rails I had an overwhelming urge to unpack my offerings and get them running! Due to family and work commitments and the fact I'm a self confessed rivet counter, I model at what can be considered a 'glacial' pace and I construct layouts at an even slower pace. To see my stock running on an exquisitely modelled scenic section of your layout was very satisfying. Maybe we should consider arranging such that one us 'O14 champions' brings a demonstration board / layout or part of, with the intent of allowing other O14 modellers to dust off their models and stretch their legs to future events.

Regards,

Mark.?

I was trying to count the roster: I think there were 6 locos all told visiting the?Pentewan roster of 3.?Thank you for your inspirational modelling, Mark (I still can't get over the working inside valve gear!), plus allowing John and I time out from operating PLR. I noticed Paul Holmes's Lyd getting an airing on Abbey Light Railway, too. I wish I'd had more time to chat with all the O14 contributors in our little enclave: lots of wonderful work in evidence, making me realise how much more there is to learn. Perhaps the O14 group needs a meet-up?

Not sure why this got sent to my spam folder: how very dare they!
I guess I counted my Decauville among them, hence my thinking there were 6 visitors.
I thought after the event that perhaps a passing loop at the back would work better than a simple oval, should you be so inclined: somewhere straight for the re-railer and a programming section. Not that I'm pressuring you, but maybe we could talk offline about the controller requirements that would entail?

Hi All
I've just joined the Group following the Burton show, which I guess proves the value of a good exhibition presence! I was certainly inspired by all 3 of the O14 layouts on display.
I think Mark's idea of a O14 "champion" demonstration board/ test track is a good one, especially if the curve radii are big enough to take the larger rolling stock (L&BR etc) as well as the smaller "skips with everything" equipment.
?I'd find this particularly valuable as until a future (sometime.....) house move takes place I'm
confined to building locos and rolling stock rather than a complete layout.
Allan
PS anyone else doing O14 in the Derbyshire Dales area?
