Narrow Gauge Modelling, Mickleover, Derby 24th Jan
? ? Everyone is invited to the following event ? 7mm Narrow Gauge Open Day (was a 'Members' Day' but is open to all) ? Saturday 24th January 2014 10.00am to 4.00pm ? Admission ?3 ? Mickleover Community Centre, Uttoxeter Road, Mickleover, Derby. DE3 0DA ? Light refreshments available ? Regular visitors will know that we started these Members' Days to enable us to show our group layout, Henmore - but not any more. After being featured in Railway Modeller and appearing at the York Show a couple of years ago, two boards were damaged whilst being dismantled and that brought forward our plans for some improvements. We also
learnt that gravity is stronger than wood glue and screws when boards are no longer supported! The original plan had been a gradual replacement of 30 year old warped and heavy boards but we decided to go for a new layout. Come and discuss our plans - at last I think we know what we are going to do !? ? Promised layouts so far are Blakecaster, an old favourite now in the care of Peter Wilson, but originally built by Mervyn Axon and further developed by Howard Clarke, both very long standing members of the Association. Also 'Mydraw Works' a small but detailed loco depot from John Hill. ? Trade support from the usual suspects - EDM Models, Port Wynnstay Models, Minimum Gauge Models,?7mmNGA Sales, Second Hand and Publications and new this time 'Linda Tinker Books' a local specialist second hand book dealer. ? Plenty of room for other modelling displays, 'bring and buy', layouts, demos etc. Please contact me and let me know if you want to offer something - it doesn't have to be 7mm but we would prefer Narrow Gauge?!! ? Thanks to Paul at EDM you will find information on his website here ? ? We hope to see you there ? Mike |
Re: re-gauging
开云体育Hi Tim, I have one in the loft, I will dig it out and have a look, I think from memory it will be a bit tight to get down to 14mm. James? On 20 Dec 2014, at 17:31, 'Halket family' halketfamily@... [O14] <O14@...> wrote:

re-gauging
开云体育Hi
everyone,
?
Just a quick
question between wrapping presents; does anyone know if the HO Scale Bachmann GE
45T mechanism can be re-gauged to something more appropriate? I know from
experience that some Bachmann?wheelsets can be?pushed out to EM gauge,
just wondering if the opposite could happen.?It's a nice looking mechanism
when on the move and I thought it might make a nice
freelance-diesel-bash.
?
Happy Christmas
everyone,
?
Best wishes,
Tim?

Am I correct in assuming that these points will have the exact footprint to
the points covered in your track work PDF on your web site?

Here you can see the first moulding of the KBscale ready-to-lay turnout base - ? This is the Type 2 Y turnout. Still some work to do but I'm getting there. ? ? |

Hi James, There will be an etched n/s frog plate and tie bar etc. Similar to the parts I sent you before. Cheers, David On 12 December 2014 at 08:41, James Hockley jameshockley_38@... [O14] <O14@...> wrote:

开云体育Hi David, These look great, what is the plan, will it be just the turn out base or will the kit include any others parts? I still have some parts for type 1 turn outs you sent me a while back, tie bars, v bases and so, is the plan to do those for the type 2 also? James? |

Phil,
Dunno: one to ask LR Presse, as it depends on what sub you've paid. The
reason I know about the English version of the paper mag is that they emailed me
to ask if I wanted to swap from the French language paper version.

I understand that the French NG magazine Voie Libre will be available in English from the next issue (January). English translations have been around as pdf files for some time, but now the whole mag will be available. If anyone has been put off buying a subscription because of the language, maybe now is the time to drop hints for a Christmas present! I'm not linked to the company, by the way: just a happy subscriber. David H |

Re: kit availability
Hi Guys There are also some 3D printed DHR Kits available, goods and passenger, through Chris Ward's website.? One was reviewed fairly recently in Narrow Lines.? Beware though, some do appeared to be 'imaginings' rather than actual prototypes - and, as I remember, I didn't find it easy to sort out which were which and I don't know the DHR well enough to spot the difference. So it will be Worsley Works for my DHR train. Cheers David From: "adrian@... [O14]" To: O14@... Sent: Sunday, 7 December 2014, 21:12 Subject: Re: [O14] Re: kit availability
?
The design of the MRD DHR rolling stock is quite unlike most etched kits as Hubert Carr has tried to make an etched kit that can be assembled using adhesives?and that has etched details inside and out. Personally, I would solder plastic card of I could so the 'glue it together' bits of the instructions were completely ignored and a perfectly satisfactory job was done using various grades of solder, my 25 watt iron and RSU. Couplings will take some thought, I agree but, until I've put my EDM B Class together running a train isn't an issue. BTW - glueing the B class is definitely NOT recommended!! MRD kits cover three DHR goods prototypes but I don't think they've moved on to carriages yet, so Worsley is the only source for these. Adrian

Well if he can do it
I got this link from another long forum. All half our size, perfectly to scale and gauge ( 6.5mm). Look at the following pages - there's no need to understand German to see how incredible the modelling is. If he can do it then there is no excuse for us.
