Thanks John, we will miss you.

?

Will you be able to get to NG South?? I guess it is still more than a 300 mile round trip for you and not something to be taken lightly with the way fuel costs are going.

?

Cheers,

Cheers Paul, likewise although I suspect I have seen Hulme End more recently than most, following my visit last September.

Hi all

A bit late in the day, but with all the uncertainties in ?the world right now, I haven’t asked before.?

Not actually 014, as it’s 017.5, but built to the correct gauge for 2’6”, Hulme End is at Narrow Gauge North this Saturday. ?If anyone here can spare an hour or two and fancies operating, do let me know.

Cheers

Re: KB Scale Tipper Wheel sets

I’ve enquired quite recently of LRS about 5he chances of separate packs of wheels being available (KB Scale used to do a huge range, and I greatly miss the curly spoked wagon wheels especially) but was told that there are no plans to reintroduce them. ?I would guess that the chances of skip wheels being available separately would be slim, sadly.

Re: KBScale

I've just checked a couple of RCL hard plastic cases and a couple of KB Scale 'bubble' packs and they all have the same pattern 4-hole disc wheels.

I can't get to my built stock at the moment but I suspect that most of them will be the 4-hole pattern.

Cheers,

Robin

Correction, the earlier wheels in the hard plastic cases have 'six' hole pattern wheels.

Hi Guys,

I just checked my stock of KB/RCL wheels.?? They are not the same
pattern.?? The earlier wheels are 4 holes and the later wheels are a
maltese cross pattern. Yes?

Thanks! I will forward your comments.

I have some of Roy's un started packs that I can supply if need be.

Erratic supplies available through Light Railway Stores:

Many items have been sold out for some time and there is no indication as
to when they may be restocked. Light Railway Stores is the marketplace
for KB Scale and are rely on the manufacturer for stock and updates.

Light Railway Stores might be the best contact although I don’t think they have any separate KB Scale wheels listed.? Supplies from KB Scale appear to be very sporadic.

?

I have used re-gauged 00n3 wheels from Dundas Models as they are on the same length axles.? Their profile is a bit finer but they seem to work well on my track built to Roy’s original standards.? They don’t have the 4 holes in them being turned steel but they do appear to run true and are concentric.

?

I believe that separate brass axles are available from Light Railway Stores (Mosskito Models) that are useful where fixed uncoupler magnets are used.

I had the same issue when I developed my range of Tall-y-llyn , for the 7mmNGA, I used 0-14 standards and they didn't like them as they were had to have special Alan Gibson wheels to allow them to run on 16.5 track. As they couldn't use there cheap 00 wheels they have not even advertised them on there own website even though they bought ?400 of kits off me.
On the subject of 3D printing wagons it's great for wooden objects, where cross section of material is pritty thick. However? things that are less than 1mm thick it can distort and it's not overly strong.

Paul. The advantage of 3d printing is that you can produce variants of the basic design using software only!

My feeling is to ask Alan to stretch the print by 3mm to match the others, but that is making it inaccurate! What do others think?? I have uploaded some photos as album ?'Festiniog Slate Waggons'

Thanks Adrian. I think that is the way I am going. It looks like Alan (Coast Line Models) will do a run of 3D prints and Huw Jones may do a run of CNC turned shorter axles. Just need to persuade Colin to do a batch of curly spoke wheels ?…. (the Markits ones look nice but are very expensive and not concentric, so useless). You may like some too?

Re: Conundrum over scale width waggons.

Paul,

Whenever I have considered ways to produce wooden slate waggons I have taken the pragmatic, overwidth, route so as to keep them in proportion with my multitude of iron waggons!
