Re: Expo Narrow Gauge 2020 update

Hopefully it will return better than ever. I missed last year as I was helping Paul at Welshpool. This year's show also has plenty of interest and hopefully won't be as wet.
Gleaned from another forum:

?"End of the line" (O14 & SG), Kevin Hughes with "Up the line" (O16.5), Paul Holmes "Borth-y-Gest" (4mm scale, 8mm gauge), Peter Booth "Dinas" (8mm scale),??George Williamson
?"Tywyn Wharf" (5.5mm scale) and "Tony's Forest" (O14).

They might be for Lyn, hence the reason they’re doing a 10 spoke version as well as a 8 spoke version

The total length of our Lynton & Barnstable axle is 29.58mm the diameter of the axle between the wheels is 3.175mm and the extensions are 2.48mm the square on the end is 1.69mm A/F and the width of the squares are 1mm. event attracting layouts, traders and visitors not only from the UK
and Europe but from further afield – Australia, Japan, Canada and the
US.

For the past 4-5 years we have lived with rumours of the redevelopment
of our current venue – the White Oaks Leisure Centre in Swanley, Kent.
Following last year’s show we finally received formal notice that this
redevelopment is likely to start in 2020 with the site to be used for
both residential and leisure use.

We cannot gamble on White Oaks being available in October this year
either in its current form or as a redeveloped leisure centre with
less facilities so clearly need to find a new venue which will be
suitable for future shows.

Although we have already identified a few options, it is clear that
there is now little time to arrange a show in October 2020. With the
agreement of our members, we have decided not to hold ExpoNG in 2020.
This will give us time to take a breather, settle on a new venue and
to look at what format future ExpoNGs might follow.

We hope you will understand our decision. We know that ExpoNG is a big
part of the narrow gauge modelling calendar.? We’d like to thank all
our visitors, exhibitors and traders who have supported us in the past
and look forward to seeing them again in the future.

Re: 18 January - Trent Valley Area Group Members (open) Day

I am doing some modelling with small 3ft gauge prototypes in 21mm gauge. Alex Bingley has 3D printed a small wagon frame, based on a Torrington & Marland 10ft length wagon [Ted Davies' drawing] but would also suit the Southwold open wagons, using Slaters 14mm wheels. I'll take delivery at the Trent Valley show and he's happy to print them for anyone else.

Hi Frank,

Coxheath Sidings was mainly built in Canada, named after the district in Cape Breton where we lived at the time so nothing Anglo-Saxon about it other than being a British setting. It is now DCC. It has its own thread on RmWeb:?

Chipping in on the O14 front…..

  • I will have a 14mm gauge Darjeeling loco that needs a test run. Works on tight curves but with a hellish overhang
  • Samples of printed track for O14
  • And, just maybe, something else O14 to show

For anyone wondering, I can confirm there will be at least (probably only, actually) one O14 layout at the Trent Valley Area Group's open day this coming Saturday 18 Jan.

It's my embryonic compact taster layout, track based on RCL track components and includes a couple tight of Type 1 curves.

Visiting O14 locos/stock welcome, though locos of 3+axles may only have two or three feet to stretch their wheels in. Expecting to have both DC and DCC power.

Cheers

Re: 18 January - Trent Valley Area Group Members (open) Day

Whilst not quite o14, for those who enjoy a scale two foot between their rails, Bob Harper will be bringing part of his latest on2 1/4” scale layout to Mickleover.

Cheers,
Andrew

I have flown the flag for 014 at the Trent Valley event 2 years ago but this year will be with my standard gauge Microsoft Coxheath Ridings on probably it's last outing.?
Look forward to seeing you and your layout.
