Re: Expo Narrow Gauge 2020 update
Hopefully it will return better than ever. I missed last year as I was helping Paul at Welshpool. This year's show also has plenty of interest and hopefully won't be as wet.
Gleaned from another forum: ?"End of the line" (O14 & SG), Kevin Hughes with "Up the line" (O16.5), Paul Holmes "Borth-y-Gest" (4mm scale, 8mm gauge), Peter Booth "Dinas" (8mm scale),??George Williamson?"Tywyn Wharf" (5.5mm scale) and "Tony's Forest" (O14). |

Surprised they’re doing a Manning Wardle before they’ve released
Lyn, or did you mean Baldwin?

Slater's Manning Wardle Wheels
开云体育For those of you that might be interested, I was
recently speaking with David White from Slater’s and he mentioned they have a
new wheel type they are doing for there Lynton & Barnstaple Manning Wardle
kit, the wheels themselves screw onto the axles. The subject came up because I
was asking David what they had available to better suit the backwoods Miniature
NGG-16 Garratt kit, from speaking with a number of people who have done this kit
the wheels and crank arrangement leaves a lot to be desired.
Below is a copy of David’s email to me in regards to
these new wheels,
?
“The total length of our
Lynton & Barnstable axle is 29.58mm the diameter of the axle between the
wheels is 3.175mm and the extensions are 2.48mm the square on the end is 1.69mm
A/F and the width of the squares are 1mm. We have two wheels of 2'9" that screw
onto? this axle, one 10 spoke and one 8 spoke. The crank for our L & B
loco kit is machined from steel, we could do an alternative crank in fact i do
not know why Backwood’s? did not ask us to do a proper set of wheels.
Probably a set of wheels properly engineered with the correct machined cranks at
about ?13.00 an axle is too expensive. Once you have studied these dimensions if
they are suitable we could have a look at doing a proper crank to
fit.
kind regards
David White”

Expo Narrow Gauge 2020 update
Expo Narrow Gauge 2020
The Greenwich & District Narrow Gauge Railway Society has been organising Expo Narrow Gauge – known as ExpoNG – since 1983. It was the first national all narrow gauge modelling show in the UK and over that time has grown to become Europe’s premier narrow gauge modelling event attracting layouts, traders and visitors not only from the UK and Europe but from further afield – Australia, Japan, Canada and the US. For the past 4-5 years we have lived with rumours of the redevelopment of our current venue – the White Oaks Leisure Centre in Swanley, Kent. Following last year’s show we finally received formal notice that this redevelopment is likely to start in 2020 with the site to be used for both residential and leisure use. We cannot gamble on White Oaks being available in October this year either in its current form or as a redeveloped leisure centre with less facilities so clearly need to find a new venue which will be suitable for future shows. Although we have already identified a few options, it is clear that there is now little time to arrange a show in October 2020. With the agreement of our members, we have decided not to hold ExpoNG in 2020. This will give us time to take a breather, settle on a new venue and to look at what format future ExpoNGs might follow. We hope you will understand our decision. We know that ExpoNG is a big part of the narrow gauge modelling calendar. We’d like to thank all our visitors, exhibitors and traders who have supported us in the past and look forward to seeing them again in the future. Any queries regarding this news should be addressed to David Gander, Secretary G&DNGRS (dh.gander@...) or Stephen Fulljames, Exhibition Coordinator (stephen@...). --- Note: The Greenwich & District Narrow Gauge Railway Society was formed in 1968 and has organised Expo Narrow Gauge since 1983. The first all narrow gauge modelling event, it now attracts visitors from across the world. Expo Narrow Gauge is a registered trade mark of the Greenwich & District NGRS. |

Re: 18 January - Trent Valley Area Group Members (open) Day
I am doing some modelling with small 3ft gauge prototypes in 21mm gauge. Alex Bingley has 3D printed a small wagon frame, based on a Torrington & Marland 10ft length wagon [Ted Davies' drawing] but would also suit the Southwold open wagons, using Slaters 14mm wheels. I'll take delivery at the Trent Valley show and he's happy to print them for anyone else.

Re: 18 January - Trent Valley Area Group Members (open) Day
Hi Frank, Coxheath Sidings was mainly built in Canada, named after the district in Cape Breton where we lived at the time so nothing Anglo-Saxon about it other than being a British setting. It is now DCC. It has its own thread on RmWeb:? David On Tue, 14 Jan 2020 at 14:51, Frank Sharp via Groups.Io <frank.j.sharp=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育Thanks DavidThat rings a bell. I have a horrible feeling I gave away the relevant issue of NGIRM a good few years ago, during a temporary relapse from NG modelling (heresy, I know....!) Allan On 10 Jan 2020, at 21:53, David Hughes <formerchurchwarden@...> wrote:

Hi Allan,
Alain's book has a few very poor (and rather small) line drawings. Rather better drawings of a Mallet and IIRC a Tubize Bi-cabine can be found in Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railway Modelling Review - I must declare an interest as an associate of that publication.?

Does Alain’s book have any drawings? I’d love to model a 60cm-gauge steam tram loco, and the Calvados enclosed 4-6-0ts would fit the bill nicely.
