Stunning model Mark. Love the opening windows. I would like to say I'm sharing your policy of finishing models, but I've just dismantled K1 for a potential rechip with stay-alive all in sight of my GWR prairie which needs its body to be built. I also have an expanding unbuilt kit drawer.

Currently on holiday in Malta so trains are not very high on my list of priorities !!

Neil Blair is exhibition coordinator and as we work together, I'll pass on your messages when I'm back in the office next week.

Hello Mike,
As you may have seen, the 'yahoo' 014
group has had a flurry of interest from the min-display at
Mickleover last weekend and there is active support for an
014 presence at the 7mmNGA show at Burton this June, subject
to space permitting of course. I'm not sure who books
the exhibits for this event now but I'm fairly sure you
and/or Neil are in there somewhere.
In brief, a small layout, demo and display would
be ideal or manageable.?Ralph Gaskin offers a 4
x 2 layout he is working on.?
There is also Bunny Mine, this would be the
length shown last week in a state of completion. Next year I
plan to have the other section available to show, giving? 7
x 2 so I'm content to wait till then.
John Clutterbuck plans to be there, either as
part of the above demo, or with a RCL publications stand and
also has a test-track & layout section to
show.
Possibly you or the organiser could indicate how
much space an 014 display could have, and we could work out
the best combination to fit this??
It would be good to make this a regular feature
for 2019 as well, the interest seems to be there and
possibly to attract more of the supplier/makers
also.
Hope this is helpful,
David

Although my O16.5 layout ‘Ashcross industrial museum’ is booked for the 2019 Exhibition, I should have my first O14 layout finished and have agreed to take that instead.? So I can also help fly the O14 flag as well.

Re: Trent Valley 7mm Narrow Gauge Open Day 27th January

Hi All,

I think I may be able to go this year. The dilemma is whether to bolster the o14 contingent or attend as a trade stand for NG&I + RCL Books (& Zamzoodled) - as we found at ExPong we had a lot of competition and it was hardly worthwhile.

For o14 I usually bring a test track and do a trackmaking demo - which means I matter all day. However, I may be able to bring the quarry board from the PLR to act as a test track - it's not very long but can have both DCC and DC at the same time.

Paul - perhaps we can have an articulated loco fest.

Hi David,

I'm certainly interested in getting involved with the Burton show. I'm normally there anyway. The 4ft x 1ft layout I'm working on should be up and running by then. Or I could just bring some stock for display.

014 modelling needs a shot in the arm, there must be a lot of us about somewhere.

Ralph.

The 014 table at Mickleover last weekend was well received and a layout and demo or small display at Burton this year would probably go down well as the organisers are aware that there has been little 014 presence for the last couple of years. It would make sense to try and make this a regular fixture if there is support for doing this. I'm prepared to put the idea forward for 2018 and to be involved, it would be useful to know who else may be interested.?

It would also be useful to have some 'trade' involvement, Mark Clark was there with a stand last year and Mark Hesketh is interested in being involved.?

Re: Trent Valley 7mm Narrow Gauge Open Day 27th January

John, hi. Narrow Lines arrived this morning. June 9th at Burton as usual. The mixed up year is 2019 when AGM with SWING and a larger Burton exhibition in its usual slot. Most competitions at AGM with extra competitions at Burton too but the meeting hall full of exhibits.

Shall we do an 014 demo for this year?

Paul.

Does anyone know the date of the 7mm NGA show/AGM in June? The website says it can be found in the diary but that is sadly lacking. And will it be at Burton? I seem to recall hearing it may be combined with SWING in the south.

Re: Trent Valley 7mm Narrow Gauge Open Day 27th January

John,

It’s the second Saturday in June, has been for several years. Which makes it 9th June 2018.

I believe that there will still be a June show in Burton in 2019, but due to it being the Association’s 40th Anniversary, the AGM itself will take place at SWING to pander to the southern based members. Albeit at a greater hindrance to those in the north.

It does mean that the room usually taken over by the AGM will be available for use by exhibits for an enlarged show to celebrate 40 years of the Association. Hopefully, some O14 layouts will be available to fill this space.

Hope that helps,
Andrew

Re: Trent Valley 7mm Narrow Gauge Open Day 27th January

Yesterday at the Trent Valley event in Derby in the UK, I had a little '014 Table' with my part-completed 014 micro-layout 'Bunny Mine', a multigauge test-track, and assorted items about the layout and the scale.?

The most important items were the two chairs in front and one behind the table! Quite a few people dropped by to talk and rest their tired legs [mine included]. Two visiting, long-dormant locos were given a test run. Good conversations. Paul Martin's EDM Models was next door selling quality items from his own range and imported.

The NGRM.com site was very helpful in flagging the event and the table to potential visitors, as was this one.

It was worth doing and I'd offer to repeat it. I may offer it for the 7mm Narrow gauge Association AGM show in Burton, UK in June. It would be worth having more good news updates from supplier/makers. I did ask several. Mark Hesketh and Zamzoodled responded. One report of a supplier not responding to online orders or emails, disappointing.

From the 'Review' I am impressed with what Mark Clark [locosnstuff] is doing, highly innovative and he appears to have solved the geared drive chassis problem with 3d printed designs.? ???There is good news from Slaters about the L&B coaches too. These counter the story that 'there is nothing new available', there is!

I'd be interested to hear from Craig about his experience in Canada.

Dave

Re: Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling REVIEW

Neat! Just a little way further East from Wheels and Wings is John's Photo Hobby, good for buying brass shapes, Evergreen styrene, and bits and bobs but carrying only European trains. ?Also Hornet Hobbies, good for paints and supplies, and the Twelfth Fret musical instruments is near there, like a museum! I'm the other side of town, open for visits though not O14 - it's On3 and some On2.?
