开云体育Pete may list it on his website but as I recall it isn't available, nor has it been for a long time - Pete withdrew it because it's a challenging build and needed further design. ?That said it can be beautifully done (see John Clutterbuck's magnificent
example on Pentewan) ...

O14 Backwoods Garratt kit for sale
Hi Guys, I have a Backwoods Miniatures NG Garratt kit that I bought some years ago. This is the O-14 version NOT On30 I am building a layout in On3 and have realized that I will never find the time to build the Garratt. I am willing to sell the kit for USD600.00 OBO plus postage from Canada. would anyone be interested. If yes, contact me by email at csrr70@... and we can discuss. The kit is mint and completely intact. Nothing has been cut off the sheets nor assembled yet. Thanks, Keith |
Re: Point Frog Jigs
开云体育Hi Craig,
You are right that the jig wouldn't survive being heated but then that's not really what it's designed for. It will only clamp over a single rail at a time to allow the rail to be cut. If you then want to use a jig to solder the two rails into a frog I'd recommend the jigs from KBScale. These survive being heated very well. I have the KBScale jigs mounted on a wooden block and use a blow torch to solder so that I can get the rails hot enough without the jig acting as a heat sink and drawing too much heat away. Thanks everyone for the delivery updates. It took 4 days to the UK, 22 days to get to the EU, 30 days to Australia, 32 to NZ and 35 to the USA. As Roy has stated delivery is via a mail facilitator and timescales are very much dependent on them achieving a full load with other magazines etc. If we didn’t use a facilitator it simply wouldn’t be economic to mail around the world. And it should be noted the prices have not changed for 5 years!
We will perhaps reset the despatch expectations for issue 109. Regards John |

Re: Fast Tracks
开云体育I agree the fast tracks jigs are expensive, although I did toy with the idea of getting the blade filing jig - which I am led to believe through correspondance will accept Karlgarin 82 rail. I personally find filing the crossing nose is not too hard although I do complicate it by making it a lap joint (see p25 of?) The much harder part is holding the crossing and wing rails accuratley in place whilst soldering. On my recent work I have evolved my techniques to use sacrificial card overlays on a template copy with the crossing a wing rails (all straight and over long) held in place with masking tape. I failed to take photos of the soldering operation but hopefully the template photo is obvious - see:? I have also moved on from trying to solder in the wires (as in track article) to using glued in black plastic snippets to represent the spacers in the flange ways and pieces of fishplate (zamzoodled) glued on the outer side of the rail. Re: Fast Tracks
Having just looked those Fast Tracks jigs seem rather expensive! Each of the part jigs is just over $50 and a point template jig is around $130. So if you wanted to use the jigs for all the parts you'd need to spend almost $300 per rail size and per turnout number! Saying that seems excessive feels like the understatement of the year. In comparison the crossing jigs from KBScale are just ?7 each and make assembling the hardest part of a point very easy. The one thing those jigs don't help with is cutting the rail at the right angle though and I did find that was a bit of a pain. Rather than buy an expensive jig though I designed my own that could be 3D printed using the cheapest material shapeways offer. You can see the idea in this blog post I wrote On 27 November 2016 at 01:40, Geoffrey Briggs geoffrey_briggs@... [O14] <O14@...> wrote:
