Any HF BBS¡¯s Around?

Hi all,

I¡¯ve googling for any HF BBS¡¯s but haven¡¯t found any so far. I did find one through its beacon but it was on 105. I checked it out but don¡¯t want to actually use it for reading bulletins etc due to it being on 105.?

Does anyone know of an HF BBS elsewhere on the band (or perhaps another band)?

There are quite a few, the easiest way to find them is just put the radio on NET 105 and issue the "MHeard" command after a half hour or so.

I've connected to more than a few and run one myself. It doesn't heard to connect and drop a line to the SYSOP, I've done it more than a few times myself...

Hello DOug,

I have had a RMS gateway on 14.107 USB for some years now so as not to QRM the NET105 gang on 14.105 LSB. I also share that with my WA3WLH-7 BPQ node's port 6 FX25 1700c. So if you prefer LSB then it would be dial freq 14.110.4.

Other than my own regular use I only get a handful of connects there per year as folks that recognize the packet tones stumble across my beacon. There are Robust Packet, Pactor, VARA, and ARDOP sigs around that freq at random times daily some of which are winlink and some are BBS forwards. It can get busy at times but there are plenty of times when the freq is clear and AX/FX25 is easily usable.

So if you are looking for something on 20m and the path between us is favorable you are welcome to use the node at -7 or the BBS at -1. And if 20m paths are not favorable I also keep a port on 40m 7.104 LSB 1700c up 24/7 where I both get connects from and see beacons from NNE Canada so you can also try there if you have 40m capability.

Thanks Garry. I'm guessing you are referring to pbbs's whereas I'm looking for full-blown bbs's with bulletins etc.?

Thanks Rich. I tried connecting the other day but propagation was not in my favour. I'll give it another shot when I get that chance.

Well propagation was good this evening. I was able to connect to Rich's BPQ BBS and read some bulletins.? Thanks Rich.

I finally fixed a problem that was keeping me off the air for a while. KO4YAW is back up on 14.105 if that helps. BBS is new so not much around right now.

I'm on the other side of the continent, so probably not reliably reachable via rf, but I'll add my node information here for anyone looking for RF connections on the west coast of North America.

KJ7OES.OR.USA.NOAM
Grants Pass, OR 97527
KJ7OES-1 KJ7OES-7

Contact me via my node first if possible, and we'll set up a forwarding arrangement that works for everyone.
