Packet tone pair for Kantronics KAM XL

I have a new KAM XL running with an Icom IC-7410. Apparently, the default tone pair for HF packet is 2100/2300 Hz, CF 2200 Hz.
I have flashed the latest Firmware BIOS and all looks to be OK running in terminal mode.
Using the "Data LSB" mode in the 7410, my dial frequency turns out to be 14.105.5, instead of 14.105.0.
I don't mind working around it this way. Just for the sake of consistency, I would like to somehow change the tone pair to 1600/1800 Hz.
According to the manual, it looks like the MARK and SPACE commands are just for the RTTY mode.
Likewise, using the "LOWTONES ON" command seems to have no effect either.
The manual states that this command is used for "European" tones in RTTY, I assume.
Am I missing something? Ideally, I would like to have the 1600/1800 Hz tone pair for Packet and even Pactor.
But I would like to retain the 2125/2295 Hz tone pair for RTTY without having to change tones when switching between the modes.
Am I able to do this? I can use the direct FSK keying from the KAM XL and have the 7410 generate the proper shift in the RTTY mode.
But the issue remain with the decoding the corresponding tone pair on receive. I hope that I am making sense with this request.

Hello Randy,

As far as I know certain KAM's and AEA PK232's along with a few others have been using the 2200cf for 300b packet for decades.

I'm not sure this really helps much but I still have and use a pk232 I bought new back in the late 80's. After finding that there were too many internal TNC components to change in order to move the tones for a 1700cf I ended up simply setting the rigs dial freq to .eg. 14105 and then setting both rcv and xmt RIT to + or - .5 depending on the rig being in LSB or USB.

The downside of the 2200cf at least for me regardless of whether adjusting via dial or RIT is the inability of some of the older rigs I still use to keep the bw filters as narrow as I would like after offsetting for the 2200cf... offsetting that far on some older rigs forces the bw to be much wider than needed for 300b ax25. This wasn't nearly as much of a problem years back as it is now with all of the various digital sigs all squeezed into some of the rather narrow ACDS segments we have today.

I have just repaired my KAM+ and tested it in HF Packet.
My tones are 1600-1800 in packet mode. It's strange that your kam XL has so high tones.

Hi Randy,
you can set the modem tone¡¯s using Mark 1600, and Space 1800 , according to the manual mark/space are used for hf packet, be sure to set mark first, then space. Now you can set your dial to 14.105 and be on frequency. ?An alternative is to set the dial frequency higher for use with the default tones, either method will work fine.
the default tones are used when running vhf/uhf packet as that is the most common use of the modem, but with proper setup will work on hf as well.?
for RTTY, set Shift to 170 and enter rtty mode and your set to go, to return to hf packet, reset mark space to 1600/1800 and your set to go
