got my nanovna today and after calibrating and doing all the settings the calibration is showing but i cannot get it to show any traces or readings in swr mode with 100 ohm load or when connected to an antenna on tx port ,it is the black version and has no screening near the ports on the pcb

When you first received the unit, the factory cal should be in memory storage ZERO. You should see a sweep say on the Smith chart from 50 kHz-900 MHz. Did you see this? If the unit is showing NO sweeps, how did you calibrate?

I might add, just to be sure, what you are calling the TX port, is the CH0 port. For a one port or antenna measurement, the antenna under test should be connected to CH0, not CH1.

no sweeps showing calibrated as per instructions in the manual and cal details on left side of screen .nothing showing in smith when test with S L and through
i am using ch0 this is the same as tx port
i am using a vnwa2 for years but i wanted this as an portable antenna analyzer

This is a very bad or even wrong clone and may not get the right measurement data.

So, how can we know if a NanoVNA offer on say Aliexpress is a reasonable
offer of a good clone?

Hugen, couldn't you set up shop on ebay or Aliexpress?

We'd all prefer to ensure money spent on your design goes to you, at least
in part.
