Red LED

I am a new owner of an Aursinc NanoVNA-H, HW Version 3.6
Charged it for 4 hours out of the box, but only RED LED solid.
Used it for 90 minutes matching mobile HF antenna; seems to work fine.
Now to charge it after use. Still getting only RED LED solid. (?)
Not sure about this indication or if it is charging.
Any ideas?

The LED should flash red while charging, and stays on steady red when
fully charged. 90 min of use may not have discharged it very much.

Hello Tom, the NanoVNA-H rev3.6 red LED is on to indicate charging and off to indicate charging is complete.
The charging current of NanoVNA-H rev3.6 is about 250mA, and it may take 6 hours to fully charge the battery, the charging current may drop when it is almost full, and the actual charging time may be longer.

Thanks for all the replies. The red light finally went out after charging for another 4.0 hours, so I guess it is fully charged now. Apparently in my unit, "Red" means charging and no LED means "fully charged." So far, so good with the unit.
Tom, K4YAZ

Mine is different

Mine flashes while charging, and then turns a solid red when fully charged.

The light going out makes no sense to me. How would you know the difference from fully charged, or it lost connection and is not getting any power now?

On mine, the red LED indicates charging, and it goes out when full.

OK we need absolute clarification from like the manufacturer or something here.

Mine NanoVNA-H4

First time I used it i did the charge before use. I was "Told" that when charging the red led will flash, and when fully charged, it will be a constant light. At least that is what I was "Told"

And that's how I have been using it from the first day. If I know I will need it, I will charge it first.

Connect to charge,,,
Light flashing,,,,,,,,,
ok steady light go and use it.

NOW,,? the thought of the light going out,? first question I have is OK what does flashing mean?

and two,, By accident, I connected it to get charged, and something came up and I was not able to do the test, and I forgot all about it being on the charger. Only to discover it like 4 days later with a solid red light on still.

I would think after 4 days of charging it would be done wouldn't you?

The spec sheet for the MCP73831 charge controller shown in the NanoVNA hardware diagrams that I find () only shows on and off states - no flashing, so all I can speculate is that your unit was built with a different component, or some additional circuitry. I have seen this device in other devices (smalL LCD scopes . . . ) and the "on for charge/off when complete" is also consistent there.

Other than that speculation, I've got nothing . . .

Hugen is the manufacturer of the -H and -H4 and he replied to this post yesterday...

I saw that, but it does not explain why this user appears to be seeing a different behavior . . . .

Then what does flashing mean?

It could be that the charging source is pulsing (e.g. from an internal thermal limit perhaps). It's not like all USB power sources are fully compliant. Look at the huge design difference between legitimate Apple cube chargers and knockoffs.

A prior hardware rev of the H4 does flashing while charging, and steady-on
when fully charged (mine does that)
