Installing NanoVna-Saver : First Time Problems/Fixes
When attempting to install and run nanovna-saver on my old win-7 laptop, there were two specifically related problems:
1. missing: api-ms-win-core-timezone-I1-1-0.dll 2. missing: Microsoft VC++ Redistributable library Both for Program Files (x86) [as I discovered] Did some on-line searching for the first one and found warnings to make sure the DLL was valid...ooops?? It occurred to me that the DLL might be used by other installed software and it was. Had to be valid** so I CTRL-dragged a copy to the Windows/sysWOW64 folder, ---That took care of problem 1. Problem 2 needed more help and a message to the group with a reply by Rune Broberg led me to the Microsoft VC++ Redistributable library. I found that from Microsoft Downloads: Downloaded it, ran it, and problem 2 was fixed. So now I have the software running and all I need is the VNA...8^)...That's on order for delivery around the end of December. In the mean-time doing some reading. Thanks to Rune for the assist in getting thing going!! ** I'd been running the associated programs for several years so the conclusion the DLL was good -- Chuck, W5USJ |

thanks for confirming that installing the VC++ redistributable solved the problem! :-) I hope you enjoy using the software! -- Rune / 5Q5R On Sat, 7 Dec 2019 at 11:55, Chuck Carpenter <w5usj@...> wrote:

seems to me the vna saver is iffy,i get a smith chart with only the trace displayed ie none of the circle markings, its like the trace is in thin air,any ideas?,on my lappy the creed display just jitters all over, mentioned this a few times but lagley seems to be ignorred! ========================== Paul, First, I suggest calibrating your PC's display, for example: Then, be aware that you can change the chart colours to suit your own taste. I found that the defaults weren't idea for me. Cheers, David -- SatSignal Software - Quality software for you Web: Email: david-taylor@... Twitter: @gm8arv |

DLLs missing, you need to install whatever software they come from - generally, for Windows 7: Newest service pack, newest VC++ redistributable. NanoVNA-Saver does not require you to download separate DLLs in order to run it on Windows 7 32 bit. -- Rune / 5Q5R On Wed, 15 Jan 2020 at 17:14, Yves ON4KCY <ON4KCY@...> wrote:

I install again the SP and VC++ but still receive the same error.
At the first try, I installed previously the "api-ms-win-core-xxx.dll" separately because I had error that they were missing. Step by step, I was able to go further in the install process. I try to remove one of those dll with the identical result. Install it again let me go further. After new install SP and VC++, I'm still having "nanovna saver has top working" at the end of the installation. Any idea how to solve ? PS: I install successfully on my Win 10. Yves |

NanoVNA-Saver does *not* use any image files in a zip-file - you must be thinking about NanoVNASharp, or one of the varieties. -- Rune / 5Q5R On Thu, 16 Jan 2020 at 14:58, Leif M <sala.nimi@...> wrote:
