Companies like Case Logic have an enormous number of different cases of different sizes and configurations - typically there's some small subset available at places like Best Buy, CVS, Target or Wal-mart and similar places if you want to go feel the merchandise. Hard sided, soft sided, single compartment, dividers, etc.

Your NanoVNA, with adapters is, after all, about the same size as an 8-track cartridge - and they still make cases for those.

If you want something tougher, look at Pelican cases with the "pluckable" foam inserts. They make a variety of flat "attache case" sort of things.

And, since the size is similar, you might find a handgun case would be about the right size. As with others, there's countless versions of these.

Hi GEO,

You only mention "protective" as attribute for the case you are looking for and there are probably many cases that qualify for that.
I was looking for something that was inexpensive, easy to carry and that protects the NanoVNA (the -H4) plus the accessories I'm using with it.
Since the original box in which my NanoVNA-H4 arrived already provides good protection for the NanoVNA-H4 and the parts that came with it, I looked for a carrying case that matched the dimensions of the NanoVNA-H4 box.
I found that the plastic imitation of an ammunition box sold by Harbor Freight Tools has inside dimensions that exactly match the outside measurement of the NanoVNA-H4 box. If you read the product reviews for that ammunition box you will quickly realize it is totally unsuitable for its designed purpose but it does an excellent job for me. The NanoVNA-H4 box fits snug inside the ammunition case (vertically) with enough space on either side so that I can also include sets of SMA to whatever adapters (each set in its own small bag) and a 15ft active USB extension cable.

This will clearly not provide the same level of protection that a pelican case (or any of the many clones thereof) would provide, but it is sufficient for my purpose and I challenge you to beat the cost. The box has a list price of $5.99 but some reviewers indicate that it sometimes sells for as little as $1.99:

Try Harbor Freight Apache cases. They have a good variety at good prices.

Look at a padded portable 2.5inch hard drive case. Works well for me and
was inexpensive.

I use one of these for my -F, and it works out very well. The -F, in its original foam-lined plastic box with cables and cal kit, plus a small divider box of adapters, the charger and usb charging cable, folded-up copies of the user guide/manual and the menu chart - all fit inside nicely, with room for some bubble-pack to fill in the rest. It's very handy, and plenty sturdy for this purpose. And the price was nice, plus I had a 25% off coupon, although those seem to be getting scarce now.

What a bunch of great responses. While I was reading them I realized they were all for a single instrument, and I want to carry my nanosa in the same case. Then I got greedy, or project creep, and decided I want to also carry my Anritzu SiteMaster as well. Plus all the cables & BSAs that I want to schlep along. I believe a top loader case might work for me. The instruments slip in vertically with a large pocket to store the aux items. I have some camera cases I no longer use that may fit the bill with pluckable foam.

I bought handgun cases for my instruments on ebay. They have foam,
different sizes and inexpensive.

I can actually fir both the VNA and SA in the Harbor Freight box I use, as well as the short jumbers and USB cables and a plethora of adapters. It just depends on how you arrange the dividers. There's even a 10 Watt 30 dB 50 Ohm attenuator pad in there now.

Jim,

A great solution. I would use that, except that I now want to include my Anritzu SiteMaster. Which is as big as both the Nanos combined and then some.

American Scientific Surplus has some good instrument cases.
