Anything for Windows 7?

I still use W7 because most of my software is there. Nano VNA software for W7 would be nice too.

why not use w10?? ... most if not all software for w7 should also work on w10

In order to run on WIN 7 you need to install the required driver (WIN 10 has this built-in). Here is a link to my Box account where you can download it >>
Unzip and select the 32 or 64 bit version for your computer.

Next you need to use an old version of nanoVNA saver because the latest versions will not run on WIN 7. I repackaged NanoVNA Saver so that a recent version (with the new featires0 would run on WIN 7.
You can download it from my Box account here >>

Be patient when you start NanoVNA saver. It is written in Python and there a lot of modules and library functions that need to be unpacked from the .exe file every time it runs. You virus scanner will slow down the load process so expect 10 seconds or so after the black box appears on the screen.

I prefer NanoVNA app by OneOfEleven instead of NanoVNA Saver. It has better graphing capability and it is easier to scale plots. A forked version with some bug fixes by Owen Duffy is available at the link below. It works on WIN7

I wrote a post on how to navigate the menus. Lots of getting started info...

For me, it's very simple
I have a Windows Seven Pro version and I have a Windows XP virtual machine on it. When migrating from 7 to 10, can't reinstall this Window XP VM and I need it for some mapping software and an old Agfa scanner that hasn't been updated.
So I came back to Seven Pro

Hi Leif,
I'm still using the win7-32 bit version, as are you. I think a lot of people are like that, they just don't talk about it.
The article about NanoVNA on my website therefore appeared after my testing on win-xp and win7.
I like the detailed descriptions, based on which the operation can be repeated.

I moved from Windows XP Pro 32 bit to Windows 10 64 bit, starting october last year.

It was definitely not a painless transition. I installed W10 on a new computer, and had to run with both in parallel for three months, while slowly learning to tame that crazy overactive beast W10 is, moving over my software, data, and part of the hardware, and search for replacements for many programs that would not run on W10. Only around Christmas I could finally stop using the old computer.

But it was not possible to transfer everything to W10. In the end I installed a virtual machine with Win XP 32 bit on the W10 system, and I have to use that to do some tasks. For example, everything related to my Garmin GPS requires the old Windows, because neither Garmin nor anyone else ever released 64 bit drivers for the line of older GPS receivers.

And I had to replace many programs by different ones. For example, AutoCAD. Of course modern AutoCAD works on W10,but is way too expensive, and the old version I had will definitely NOT run on W10. So, NanoCAD to the rescue. Same thing with many other programs.

And some features, even hardware, simply went to waste. Instead of my excellent old Soundblaster Audigy with the kX-Project driver, now I'm stuck with a crummy integrated audio "solution" that only offers basic functionality and gets digital interference. Instead of five RS-232 ports now I have just one, and so on.

I gained access to modern software, but lost access to old and very useful software and hardware. So I can very well understand the reluctancy to "upgrade" to W10. The backward compatibility problems are obvious and severe. For me the trigger to move away from Win XP was that all current web browsers no longer supported XP, and that many modern websites don't run in older browsers. I got locked out of many web services that I really need. And moving to Win 7 as an interim step would only have delayed the inevitable. But for somebody who currently is using Win7, the most sensible thing to do is to stay in Win7 as long as circumstances allow.

About virtual machines: It's important to know that one can easily run a 32 bit virtual machine on a 64 bit real machine and OS, and what's far less known, it's also possible to run a 64 bit virtual machine on a 32 bit main operarting system! That's what I was doing to run some modern software, before switching to W10. The limit is given by RAM: 32-bit Windows only handles somewhat more than 3GB, so a virtual machine running in 32 bit Windows can hardly get more than 2GB or so of RAM, and that's very limiting in a 64 bit virtual machine.

I have no trouble using the NanoVNA on W10, through NanoVNA App, but I haven't tried yet updating its firmware from the new system. The last update was done using my old Windows XP computer. I will handle that like I have been handling all other transition problems: When I need to do something, I just try if it works, and if it doesn't, I start looking for solutions, drivers, newer software, tricks, etc..

Yes, I have a lot software which takes a lot of time reinstall. About 1,5 TB. I made a Windows 10 SSD boot disk for KiCad. But if W7 works, why fix it. XP is a nice operating system, perhaps better than W7 or W10, but it does not understand large Hard disks or Ram.
That is, this machine can boot into W10 or W7 and I want to have NanoVNa on both.

XP still crashed quite often (blue screen). I only planted Seven once and again, I should have been more patient.

During the passage Xp -> Seven, I lost the use of Autocad versions and, after the filth that Dasault made us about Draftsight, I have to be content with nanoCAD which is clearly below the aforementioned, especially in terms of speed.

Look into Vbox (VirtualBox).. free and lets you run several different
operating systems in addition to a base one. Win 10 in my case.
I'm installing 100 meg of XP Pro for my old stuff and 700 meg of Ubuntu in
my second 2gb ssd internal drive in a Dell I7559 laptop that has an i7 cpu
and max RAM.

You could preserve your Win7 under Vbox. Likely to run the same or faster.

My XP installation was extremely stable. I don't remember any crash caused by XP. But faulty application programs could indeed crash the whole machine. The technique to achieve a highly reliable XP system is to weed out such faulty applications.

I understand that newer Windows versions do a better job encapsulating each application, so as to shield the OS and the other applications from a faulty program. But I'm no expert on that matter... Just a user, and electronician.

With Windows 98, before, I had frequent crashes.

Mine too. It got so boringly stable that I sometimes booted it for (small) fun

Of course you did! Win 98 was terrible!

Did you get the answer to your original question and get the WIN7 software I posted working?

Roger

Your NanoVNA-App-Setup-v1.1.209-OD12(1).exe and drivers is the only software which works with my Nano VNA V2 Plus4 and Windows 7/32.
I have 3 different Nano VNAs, at least 3 kinds of SW for Nano VNA and 2 operating systems and only one brain(s), so I didn't find this until now.
Thanks.

But does the program fully .recognize V2 Plus4. It talks about Nano VNA v1. Anything for V2 Plus4?

What is this for? I run on W7 no problems

I think a large part of my problems comes from too many versions of HW and SW. I have 3 different NanoVnas and Win7 and 10. I have been lazy in handling different versions.
I use only NanoVna V2 Plus4
What version you use. Have you links to your SW?
