New open-source electronic design software #design #pcb

Folks,
I just came across a new open-source schematic/PCB design environment that some of you might be interested in.

I haven't really looked at it yet but it appears to be quite versatile. It even generates 3D perspectives of populated boards.
YMMV

Regards
Larry

Larry,

You might also want to take a look at MicroCap from Spectrum software. The owner developed the program, a schematic capture and Spice simulator, over 39 years. He was selling it for $4500 US and when he retired last year and decided to he give it away free to the technical community. Extremely easy to learn and very powerful simulator. Lots of demo and training files in the download. Here is the link....

Hurra Roger

Fantastic news

I loved MicroCap back in 1985 and onward during my time with development of the analog 900MHz cordless telephone Dancall 5000. I have downloaded and can hardly wait to "kiss" MicroCap12 ?

Kind regards

Kurt

Thanks, but I know about that and I had previously mentioned it in the forum late last year.
There are a number of opensource EDA projects, the largest being KiCAD.
The author of this project talks about some of the drawbacks in the KiCAD design and he created Horizon to address those issues.
As I mentioned - YMMV
