You might also want to take a look at MicroCap from Spectrum software. The owner developed the program, a schematic capture and Spice simulator, over 39 years. He was selling it for $4500 US and when he retired last year and decided to he give it away free to the technical community. Extremely easy to learn and very powerful simulator. Lots of demo and training files in the download. Here is the link.... Roger |

There are a number of opensource EDA projects, the largest being KiCAD. The author of this project talks about some of the drawbacks in the KiCAD design and he created Horizon to address those issues.
