Hi Herbie, I don't think anyone responded to you about loading firmware.

I haven't tried it yet but Hugen kindly shared a link to his manuals in an earlier post, one of which explains how to update by shorting two contacts together. (See the firmware folder.) "This is the user manual Regards Mike -----Original Message-----

Updating F/W on the white Gecko unit is simple:
I placed a momentary push button switch on my unit - see my previous posts and photos. You'll need to ensure the DFU driver is installed. Do this by: -Install all the uP drivers - you should see the pop-up windows as in my previous posts -all drivers are in the "DFU Utility - STSW_STM32080_V3.0.6.zip" file -Install the DFUdemo utility "DfuSe_Demo_V3.0.6_Setup" -turn OFF the NanoVNA and short the DFU terminals/pads on the edge of the board -turn ON the NanoVNA and you will see only a white display - that's OK -plug the NanoVNA USB into your PC - it should recognise the VNA is in DFU mode -run the DfuSe_Demo and follow the instructions in its PDF file (attached) -after pushing F/W, reset the calibrations and re-calibrate per Hugen's remarks in previous posts. ALL of the above can be had just by reading through the previous posts in this forum...... |
No problem. Larry mentioned the Gecko version in his explanation but the
black ones should work in exactly the same way. Mike On Fri, 19 Jul 2019, 18:35 herbieg via Groups.Io, <herbieg= [email protected]> wrote: hi mike |
Yes, the various clones 'should' work the same way.
As for placing your unit into DFU mode, the contacts only need to be shorted at power-up, that is why I soldered a small button switch there. After power-up and you have the white screen, you can release the button. I've pushed firmware to my unit several times using this method. I used a button from a scrap cellphone - see photo Good luck! |
