Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
I have been using S21 Series-Thru method to measure high impedances coming up in a year now in March. Is that the method you use? 73

Re: Portable Analyzer Options
If you "zoom in" to a narrower frequency range by changing the stimulus range the interpolation feature will provide intermediate data points. There is some error but I find it acceptable.

Re: Bricked NanoVNA-H
I cant beleive a single word "BRICKED" can create so much contreversy!
Anyway, I think I am good think I may try to run the ST-Link V2 procedure (if I can find it back! :P ) to see if it makes a

Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
I hate to admit it, but the measurements were made using the HP 8753C -
just because I'm far more familiar with that piece of test equipment. I
certainly could have used the NANOs. My lab is

Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
In a recent post I documented how It is possible to measure a 1000 ohm resistor to within 1% and a 3000 ohm resistor to within 3% using a NanoVNA-H4 and a suitable test jig. The graphs are attached

Don,
I intend to use it to check and adjust the resonance of various temporary antennas when I operate portable. I have found 100kHz step is sufficient since the final test is to test with the

Roger,
I will look at the model with the SD card connector. I don't mind having to file the case. The plastic case is lighter than the other analyzers which is an asset when hiking. The case corners

Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
Yes, I biffed it yesterday in initially quoting ¦År. I entered the
published velocity factor of 0.91 instead. My error. However, the
effective ¦År can be derived from Vp as: ¦År = [1/ SQRT(Vp)].

That's why I bought a -F, after trying my early -H outdoors many times. Or make a "viewing hood" out of black cloth.

Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
The ARRL Ant Book-supplied program TLW, has most of the "450 ohm line" at about 405.
Don't know how you applied the Nanovna but for impedances above a few hundred ohms S11 accuracy falls apart. I

Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
Dave,
Why should that calculator be correct?
Second, why not measure the Zo with the nano? in combo with the 1/8 lambda trick or 1/4 lambda + SmithChart trick?

Re: Bricked NanoVNA-H
Bricked to me means irrevocably broken, not wrong firmware or user bootloader installed. It is very difficult to do short of supplying overvoltage or physically damaging. Installing the wrong firmware

Re: 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
Why an ¦År of 0.91 ?? Air is 1.00054. When I put your wire spacing (21.6mm) and conductor diameter 1.29 mm) in I get the following for air 420 ohms. What is the ¦År of windowed ladderline that is

Re: [nanovnav2] 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
Yes, it is, Jim. We're not dealing with metamaterials!! Too many things
going on in my 74 YO gray matter. With a measured Vp of 0.87, the
effective ¦År should be 1.07.

Re: [nanovnav2] 450-OHM WINDOW LINE........OR IS IT?
Yes, much better calculator. Yes, I biffed it a bit on ¦År. Wireman gives
Vp = 0.91. I measure 0.87 which yields an ¦År of 1.07.
But given my measurements of L and C for 7.17 feet, I still see

I always get a kick out of it when someone mentions SimSmith. The Sim Smith
