Re: Micro SD Card Issue

Gene Fish

I purchased my H4 from R&L. I only have version 1.1.01. It saves files perfectly to a SanDisk 32 GB Ultra Plus card. I know I need to upgrde the software, Don't know how, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Re: Where to buy a NanoVNA H4 HW rev 4.3?

You can buy H4 from R&L Electronics. Not sure of firmware though.

The -H (and -H4) versions have some additional firmware features, but the
-F has a very nice type of display screen that is much easier to read in
bright light, like for outdoor on-site antenna testing.
Compare the firmware maps to find the differences in the firmware
features. The newer DisLord -H versions have 'neat' things like a
one-button cable test that gives length, loss and impedance (you must
specify the VF, though). And another that searches for Resonance.
I have a 'quite old' 2.8 inch -H, and a 2-year old -F, so I can
see/try/use both kinds of firmware. Soon I hope to get a -H4 v4.3, for the
screenshot save, clock/calendar and SD card slot.

#nanovna-h4 SD Card write problem solved #nanovna-h4

Tom Thompson (W0IVJ) shorted out R93, a 10 0hm resistor next to the SD Card socket, to get his unit to write to the Micro SD Card. I tried this fix also and now the unit works perfectly. Thanks to all who helped with this.
Now I wish I could read back from the SD Card like in the Tiny SA Ultra.
Maybe down the road.
Thanks again all,

Fred (KB1BU)

Isn't one variant more suitable for testing crystal filters as the sweep is more continuous?

Re: SD Problem #nanovna-h4

If r93 is a 10 ohm resistor, try shorting r93.

Nanovna Saver stopped working

Hello Group.
I had the NanoVna Saver executable file loaded and working on my Ubuntu laptop.
The Ubuntu version was 18, Then I let it upgrade to version 20.
Since then when trying to run the Nanaovna Saver executable, there is no response. double click .... nothing...
I tried loading the latest version of the nanovana Saver Executable which is giving the same results.
I have searched for a possible remedy without finding any results.
Can anyone give any insight on what may of happened?
Thanks all

The firmware authors also mention that "fast" writing 32GB cards do not work.

Re: recall saved images NanoVNA-h4

An S1P file is a list of numeric values, for use by analysis programs. It's not an image that can be viewed, only a data file.
Antscope2 is an example of a program that can use the S1P file.

Re: Stray Coupling Suppression

A nifty feature of the Y21 method is that in addition to nullifying stray capacitance in an impedance measurement, it can calculate its value. The utility now reports it. It also reports when input or output S-parameter magnitudes exceed 0.9999. It clips them to that level to try to salvage results for fishy data. These new features provide useful diagnostics. They can increase your confidence that a measurement is accurate.

Re: Android NanoVNA app

If I recall correctly, I tried the app with my newer USB-C connector phone, and it didn't work either. Not without the OTG (On The Go) adapter which I had to use with the older phone.

Re: SD Problem #nanovna-h4

You might want to try a 16Gb card, lots of reported issues with the
higher capacity cards over the past couple years, Moving to a lower
capacity and all works OK.

Subject: [nanovna-users] SD Problem #nanovna-h4

I just received my second NanoVNA H4. I then up dated the software to
"20220831.bin" using the STM32 CubeProgramer.
I purchased this unit because it had an SD Slot in it and I thought
it would work like the TinySA. However I have tried three different
32GB microSD cards and I can't save anything to any of them. I get a
save failure every time. I am very disappointed on how this save
feature is working. The rest of the unit seems to work great so I
don't know what to do from here.

recall saved images NanoVNA-h4

using ver.1.2.14 that came on the NanoVNA-h4
i looked in 'files' section for documentation on how to recall S1P image on the SD card.

i want to be able to recall a saved swr image to compare it to a active one after i have changed the antenna length.

Hello Erik, dl1ecd!
You can buy last HW Version 4.3 of NanoVNA-H4 here:

I have NanoVNA-H4 HW 4.2 from Zeenko Store since 1 year - Micro sd slot, but no clock crystal 32768 Hz (soldering on PC14, PC15).

Re: #nanovna-h4 #firmware #flashing #nanovna-h4 #firmware #flashing

Great, I had a similar experience while attempting my first H4 upgrade. As you say you must first?CHOOSE the new firmware file to load the file into the DFU Demo program. Then select UPGRADE?to actually write the new firmware file into the Nano VNA.?As an aside, VNA Saver seems to be the most popular PC based program to provide an interface to the device.?There exists another slick program called NanoVNA App; (OneofEleven). That particular program has a built in?ability to load device firmware directly instead of using DFU Demo. I just thought I would mention an alternative?means of upgrading firmware. Both methods accomplish the task. Actually, the VNA App itself is preferred by some users?as an alternative to VNA Saver. I like both programs, and very much appreciate the folks who spent the time to?create them.

This was the fix. Select the software then click upgrade in DfuSe Demo, never click the upload button.

Thank you very much.
