Re: Measurement EFHWA
======== That is wrong. 21/3 = 7, so the impedance transformation ratio is 7 x 7 = 49, i.e. 49:1 To have a 64:1 impedance transformer you need a 8:1 turns ratio, in other words, e.g., 3T primary and

Re: Coax choke/balun
A common mode choke made by wrapping coax feeder through a toroid is directly equivalent to a 1:1 Guanella "balun". The term balun is in quotes because, although coaxial cable is clearly an unbalanced

Re: Measurement EFHWA
You can set the property (type of value) displayed by each of the 4 traces. Touch "MENU" , touch "TRACE", touch whichever color/channel you want to show the ' the impedance real and imaginary 'j on,

Re: NanoVNA Function-Oriented Cheat Sheet
I endorse this comment fully! I have worked with VNAs on and off in my working life for the last ten years or so, and I only wish I'd seen this presentation ten years ago! It is the most succinct

Re: Saving Measurement from antenna
The Android NanoVNA app also works with my old 2.8 inch "not-H4" early clone that I bought in October, 2018 (if I remember correctly). That was about 6 months after NanoVNAs became available. It would

Common mode choke, literally thousands of pages out there dedicated to the topic. Good start for ham use: http://www.karinya.net/g3txq/chokes/

Coax choke/balun
I have seen desktop antenna/coax assemblies (such as for an SDR) that take the (thin) coax cable and wrap it around a small toroid about 3 or 4 times, close to the antenna. I understand this is to

Re: Measurement EFHWA
Hey Pete, Indeed it is a 1:49 after all... I didn't catch that when I posted. My EFHW started out as 3/24 turns (1:8) or a 1:64... but after measuring with the NanoVNA I ended up removing 3 turns. I

Re: NanoVNA Function-Oriented Cheat Sheet
This video by Alan on the NanoVNA is a great intro. It gets a little technical for the uninitiated but definitely worth the time of watching it several times.

Re: Measurement EFHWA
Jim, Do you want to measure the impedance looking into the end fed wire itself? A 67 ft long wire from 12 inches above ground straight to a tree at about a 70 degree angle comes in about 3700 to 3900

Hello Jim, I am not an expert or experienced antenna guru - but I like my end fed half wave for 20 and 40 meters. I "sorta" modeled mine off of "Gil the radio prepper" on YouTube and also Alex's

That's Hugen the "original" manufacturer and that is only on the H4 version.

The NanoVNA is a bit like the 'traditional' V.O.M. - Just gives readings on a meter/display. There is/are now version(s) with connections on the PC board to add a microSD card for storage, and I

I have thought the same thing ever since I got my Nano VNA. It also would not take anyone more than a few minutes because I assume we all have things we have figured out how to do and if we all sent

Re: Touchscreen type?
The touch screen is resistive. You can use a stylus with a hard rounded tip like those used with the old Palm Pilot PDAs. Some forum members used Q-tips.
