In my opinion you did not make a mistake for your purposes. I have been
using the "F" model for quite some time and am pleased with it. Upgrading
the "F" is far simpler than the others. All you need

Indeed, you cannot draw a pcb layout with Ansoft Designer, but the required dimensions can be calculated in the designer.

To my knowledge, Ansoft Designer (no longer available) did not design pc
boards or produce Gerber files.
