Re: My NanoVNA is not recognised by DFUse when using V 0.2.3 firmware

reports "you have the latest version"
Zadig software simply ignores such misleading messages
to install the >>correct<< driver, namely:
right-click on DfuSeDemo icon, select "Open file location"
* start in the Bin folder that has DfuSeDemo.exe
* nanoVNA wants driver in that Driver folder

You can right-click on the device, select "Update Driver Software"
* "Browse my computer for driver software"
* browse to the location above for your Windows version

Re: NanoVNA-Saver 0.1.5

Hello Rune,

Unfortunately, quartz filters have a ripple. In the Attachment the plot of an IF quartz filter.
One possibility might be to select rising and falling edges.
Otherwise, I currently have no solution.

Hans-Peter, yes, I appreciate the ripple issue.

Perhaps one approach might be to scan for Fmax, Smax and then approach upwards from a low frequency until Smax - 3 dB is reached, and then approach downwards from a high frequency until Smax - 3 dB is reached. I've not programmed that, though, just a suggestion.

Also I do not use the "jog" switch.
I drag and drop the markers / and use all menu's by the touch screen.
I also use a simple and very cheap PDA stylus.
It makes life very easy and simple.

This is part of the problem, then...I thought that AURSINC was not a clone, and not only bought one myself, but, when I found that it works well, I recommended it to others. It WOULD be nice to know who to support.

I have boxed my NanoVNA in an aluminium box, no problems.

For the power switch, I simply connect a switch across the original switch, because you must keep the power connected
to the charger controller / original power to work properly.

For USB connection, I use magnetic USB connector.

Hello David,

It's just that quartz filters have a ripple. In the attachment the plott of an IF quartz filter.
One possibility might be to select rising and falling edges.

Re: NanoVNA vs. NanaVNA-Saver #calibration

Hi, RUne,

I think that the full calibration of the device from Your software would be very useful for people (like me) that are using the nanoVna at 99% from the PC. If possible, please, add this feature ! - thanks in advance ! - Andrea IW2FDH

No, bepissneks does not currently manufacture or sell NanoVNA devices. The

better linearity but no LCD) before NanoVNA came out, but didn't make it to
market in time (the existence of the NanoVNA with a LCD made our devices
obsolete), so we are only going for V2 and have no plans to manufacture V1
devices.

With NanoVNA-Q firmware there is no needs to power off/on after USB connection. It allows to read paused sweep.

Regarding to USB disconnection, the reset happens due to hardware issue. IP5303 just remove power for some short period of time. So, this doesn't depends on firmware. You can keep NanoVNA alive with no reset at USB disconnect by applying external 3.3V power on the SWD connector at the right side of NanoVNA board.

May be adding some capacitor on power line will help to keep it alive with no reset. Needs to try.

Hi Larry, wx is bright overcast, 10 deg C, very nice.
Thanks for comment on my question. Makes me feel better to not worry about overcharging.? 73, Bruce, VE1II

Yes - you can leave it connected to your computer - the IP5303 chip will stop charging the battery automatically.

Re: My NanoVNA is not recognised by DFUse when using V 0.2.3 firmware

Try on different PC, possibly with different Windows version.

I had similar issue on my PC but after I tried on other one it worked. After I updated firmware, it then worked even on my PC.

Gabriel Tenma White posted in an earlier message that, "Currently the 3 players are hugen, flyoob, and bepissneks (parent of OwOComm), and each has designed their PCB layout from scratch, plus the cloners which all seem to copy the hugen layout. Edy555 does not currently manufacture or market NanoVNAs from what I know. "

1. hugen is of course the first person to mass market the NanoVNA and current manufacturer of the NanoVNA-H.

2. flyoob is the manufacturer of the NanoVNA-F.

3. bepissneks (parent of OwOComm), I'm guessing, is manufacturer of NanoVNA with the white salamander design as it is the most marketed clone outside of hugen's.

4. I originally thought Gabriel was a member of hugen's design team but her web presence indicates she is part of OwOComm.

Can anyone confirm the above is correct for future reference?

Enable/disable error term apply to the measurement result.
When you disable it, NanoVNA shows you uncorrected raw values (with no calibration apply).

You're using Linear scale on NanoVNA display and Logmag scale on PC software. This is why there is difference.

By the way, there is more functional software NanoVNA software for PC:

it allows to capture screenshots and show more trace types.

Correction menu option ?

Andy

Can anyone tell me what the Correction option is doing ?

Applying it sends to create some kind of offset by 20db on the S11 display, but if I remove the 50 ohm
load then s11 baseline is minus 20db.

No don't, I found it really useful for checking an ADS-B RX antenna at
1090MHz. (jpole with 1/4-3/4 wave balun and shorted 1/4 wave stub filter
for rtl-sdr dongle))

See attached.

That output was with the antenna un-tweaked after building from nec2c
dimensions - very impressed with the results.
